I just went off of Trazodone, and it's been the worst experience of my whole life! I felt like I was going crazy, my life didn't feel like my life anymore. I couldn't eat, sleep, or do anything else. For a while, I was even entertaining the thoughts of killing myself, just to end the torture I was goign through. It's been 4 weeks now, and I am for the most part over it. My doctor doesn't believe that what I went through was withdrawal. She says Trazodone is not addictive and does not cause physical dependency. Has anyone else tried getting off of Trazodone, and if yes, have you been successfull?

Some sleeplessness and irritability. HA! That's what my doc told me, too. What I had was much, and I mean MUCH worse than that. That's why I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem. I am still not sure if what I had was withdrawal or whether there is something wrong with me that cannot do without the medication anymore (in which case I should just go back on it and never try to get off of in again). You mentioned you saw something on the internet about it? what exactly was it? how did you find this information? I was trying to find out more about this drug, but wasn't vety successful - all I could find was farmacies and official info, and almost nothing about people's experiences with it. I know a lot of people take Trazodone for insomnia, so I thought this board will help. Any information will be appreciated. And I have another question for you. First time you took Trazodone, did you have any side effects? If yes, what kind? Thanks a lot...

Olga.

Hi Olga

I was on this med for only a few days as it did not help me sleep and made me like a zombie during the day.

Try posting on the stress and anxiety board I have found that very useful for advice on meds !!

Good luck

I have taken 100mg of Trazadone for 10 years and have found it to be THE perfect rx to depression, anxiety, emotional distress, sleeplessness, negative thought pattern and worry.

Before I can tell you how wonderful it is, you must know my history:

Total hysterectomy at the age of 40 threw me into complete menopause, leading into depression. It was UGLY; I don't know how I drove to work each day! My doctor screened me, listened to my symptoms and recommended 100 mg. of this drug. He informed me it would take some time, like a vitamin, to work to it's fullest in my system. Granted, 10 years is a long time ago to recall all those ugly memories, but I will never ever live another day without this medicine.

My question to you: Why do you want to go "off" of it? Does your Dr. recommend that you do?

I have reduced my dosage, along with my Dr's ok, down 50% - because, I too, felt I wanted to go "off" of it, to see what happened. I felt my UGLY symptoms coming back. It was NOT worth it.

Folks, this is the best drug on the market. Today is what is important. Living life to it's fullest is most important to me. This helps make my days just great! I love life (always have except for when I entered into depression).
