My dh just had another seizure in his sleep. He does not have epilepsy. This is his fourth episode. He had one when he was 17 and then not any til he was 29 then 31 then now at 34 he had another one. This time I did not take him to the ER. He has had tests run the last three times and they couldn't find anything, they just put him on Dilantin. He has never seized on Dilantin. We are going to bypass our family doctor and go to a Neurologist. But I was wondering if this could be a sleep disorder? He has always required more sleep than most. I don't understand how people can handle watching someone have a seizure, I have been so sick with worry all weekend. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Seizures can definetly be associated with sleep disorders. I was diagnosed with epilepsy 5 years ago and underwent a "sleep-deprivation" EEG to see if lack of sleep caused my seizures. However, as it turned out, it was actually TOO much sleep that caused some of mine. I only have seizures when I sleep more than 10 hours. Taking him to the Neurologist is a good idea. Be sure to have all the previous test results forwarded. Good luck. :)
