I have found by research and personal experience that L-Tyrosine , an amino acid which helps nuer-transmitters function, helps narcolepsy improve, in some cases greatly. I take it but continue to take adderral, 40 mill. 2 or 3 times daily, hoping someone can say if this amount it normal for my age weight, ext. (my profile) But I cannot get desoxyn in my state , therefore, I have tried everything else with little or no result. The most resent narc. drug I know of being provigil, which did little except make me have less patience with my husband, who is hyper-active, therefore I resent him, slightly, anyway! Is there any newer med. Can anyone help me with a list of all medications potentionally for narcolepsy?

Hi red. I am on provigil for the second time. My doctor took me off it when I became pregnant. Now my little one is 9 months old and very active and I needed more energy. For me it is working, too well. If I don't take it really early in the morning (like 6:00am), I am up until 3 or 4 in the morning. As of right now, I am running on the Provigil only. I have only slept about 4 hours in the past 18 hours (since 9:00 Thursday morning and it's now 3:00 Friday afternoon).I am also on Paxil for the moodiness, crankyness(?), and no patience. The combination is working for me. No moodiness, no crankies, and more patience than my husband can believe. I don't sleep and can be with my kids, but now I have to figure out how to sleep:-)I might have to start taking the Provigil around midnight so I can sleep the next night.
I am on 200mg of Provigil. How much were you taking? It might not have been enough.
Talk to your doctor. Good luck!!
