The other day I was telling my doctor that I always feel worn out, even after sleep, he asked me if I snore, which I answered yes, My wife cant even sleep with me because she says my snoring is way too loud, My brother and I once went on a trip together and he said that my snoring in the motel room was so bad, and he said he thought that I stopped breathing a few times. Anyways im 29 and like I said I am so tired during the daytime, so weak, I even have a hard time keeping my eyes open while driving. I think I might have Sleep Apnea, My doctor wants my wife to watch me while im sleeping to see if I stop breathing, the other night I took a tape recorder and recorded my awful snoring, at points I would gasp for air it was quite noticable, my question is does the cpap machine make much difference in how you feel during the day? I have been snoring for years now according to my wife, so its been along time since i've had normal sleep habits. My daughter whom is 8 also snores quite loudly, is this also a concern in children? Any comments would be appreciated, I would like to have something to look forward to (cpap) if it really works, of course I know I have to be tested first by the doctor, anyways enuff of my babling thanks!

I work in a sleep lab and have Apnea my self. I have found CPAP to be a blessing after getting use to it. If your wife has noticed periods of you not breathing during the night you sould get tested for sleep apnea. Most labs will not titrate you to get a level for cpap without doing a test first anyways. As for your daughter, it is possible that she has sleep apnea to as there is some evidence to suggest that sleep apnea may be somewhat genetic and is not unknown for kids to have sleep apnea. I know that my brother and father also have Sleep Apnea and I'm pretty sure my grandfather on my fathers side had it too although I couldn't get him to get tested before he passed away. I would talk to your doctor about getting tested and on CPAP as there are many health concerns with sleep apnea like heart disease, depression, pulmonary probelms and other health issues. Hope this Helps
