I am looking for information on PLMD. I know it keeps me from getting a good nights sleep but does it also keep a person from getting to sleep? I was also wondering if once you start taking the Sinement if you ever have to have the dosage adjusted or do you stay on the same dosage forever?

I had a sleep study done about 5 years ago and went on ambien as well as the Sinement. I have had to stop taking the ambien because not only did I have the memory problems associated with just after taking it, I was also having amnesia problems at other times. So now I am looking for something else to help me get to sleep. I have noticed a lot of discussion about addiction and dependance on sleep aids but for me it came down to I have to take something to get to sleep or else I will have to quit my job and file for disability. I have been off the ambien for over a month and have not taken anything on a regular basis to get to sleep and my ability to do my job has fallen about 75% I would guess. So I have to do something before they decide that steps need to be taken to terminate my employment or at least downgrade me. I have been reading some of the information posted on this message board about medications, including one asking about serzone. I currently take that one for other reasons but it does nothing about putting me to sleep. I was taking it at night but I am now taking it in the morning. I also need something that will not interact with other meds I take. Thank you.

I work in a Sleep Lab and sometime Doctors Prescribe Clonipin (not sure of the spelling) for PLM's. I do know that there are serious side effects, but I'm not sure what they are. Talk to your doctor and he may be able to tell you more especially about interacting with the other drugs you are using.
