I don't want to go to sleep tonight, I want to watch over my 7 year old son so I can nudge him and turn him when he stops breathing in his sleep!!
I told my doctor that my son suffers from this but he didn't seem in the least bit concerned!
He is going to have his adenoids out but this is being done aong with having gromets fitted because he has glue ear!
Even the consultant at the hospital didn't seem to bothered about my sons apnea!!
My son has very large tonsils and although I don't know for certain that this is causing him to have apnea I am wondering why removing his tonsils hasn't been recommended!
I am very worried about my son having any operation and anesthetic but the sleep apnea is damaging his heart!!
Why is no one bothered? I haven't even been given a date for having his adenoids out and his gromets fitted and I was told he needed the op at the begining of June!!
I suppose I'm just venting on here but I'm very very worried about my son and I'm scared too!

Usually an adenoidectomy and tonsillectomy would help with sleep apnea in a child. As far as I am aware, those two tend to help cause the problem. If you are worried, don't wait to hear from the doctors, contact them and see how soon it could be done. If you still feel concerned, seek a second opinion. Don't forget to mention the fact that he has large tonsils and that you are losing sleep ensure your little one is breathing. Sue

I am a sleep apnea suffer. I did some research of sleep apnea on Webmd.com, I recommend u look there as I know they mention sleep apnea in youths. One of the things mentioned was enlarged tonsils and adenoids and that removing them was generally done. I wouldnt just let it stop there with the doc. If I were u I'd get a seconf opinion. perhaps sleep studies need to be done. Check Webmd for more insigit and take it from there. Good luck!!!
