I've read your responses to the sleep occurances, and I've shared very similar experiences. I would really like to maybe talk with you about this stuff, I have many questions. I've been experimenting with all this stuff frequently, and have been leaning how to control my dreams. I want to know your opinion of the world you are in when you talk to people who are alive and have passed, also when you flying around or doing what ever you want ... is this just your imagination or something far greater. Please respond.

Thanks!

Well, one very unusual dream I had was early in the morn. when it occured. It was the electrical cloudiness around me and through me. I knew at that moment that it was going to be a strange dream, and had anticipated the sucking, popping, rushing, sound prior to it happening. That's when I encountered my Dad who has been deceased since 1977. And he had a whole diff. family.

Another strange one was when a semi truck ran into the vehicle that I was driving. It went right though me, at that moment I realized I had died, and started to float up in the stars. Then I got upset, because my daughter was too young for me to leave...thats when I woke up.

But I think what you are talking about is the reacurring dreams of being awake but unable to move. That's the time I've had the most control. It takes some getting used to. I always seem to hear someone in the house talking, or someone coming in the front door, and I can't wake up. That's the time I know I'm having that kind of dream state.

I have to remember that if there was really someone making noise it would wake me up.

And if I truly want to wake up, I wiggle my toes. The test I do is raise my arm then crack open my eye to see that I didn't raise my arm at all, it just felt like I did.

If I want to get up while sleeping, I need to keep my eyes closed. Sometimes it's a very long proccess for me to get out of bed in this dream state, but once I do, I ususally opt for flying, that's my favorite thing to do while dreaming.
Strangly enough I have many dreams of swimming, I don't swim in real life. And I can talk under the water and breath during the dream.

You wanted my opinion of the world around me when this controled dreaming occurs? It's very real.

Like the one with my dad.(not a controlled dream, but I knew I was dreaming) And the one dieing.

When I control the flying ones it's all very clear and not fuzzy at all. Like I can see all the details of the tips of the trees and can see the ground things clear too.
I have control with my imagination on the dreams that I know I'm awake but dreaming and got out of bed. (the ones that are hard to wake up from.) The other ones that come on by them selves, like the one with the electricity, and the truck going though me. I know I'm dreaming but I want to see where the dream takes me.

I also have lots of dreams in which I don't realize I'm dreaming. If I don't write them down when I wake up, I forget them almost right away, unless there disturbing.

Just wanted to say since you are new here. You can't use any e-mail addresses whether it's yours or another web sites without the consent of the moderators, or they'll ban you from this site. So be careful. drs

DRS,

Thank you for replying so promptly!! I want to explain to you what happens to me during this stuff. It is usually in the afternoon when I take a nap. I will lay on my back and close my eyes. After about ten minutes I will start to think those strange thoughts that seem to make perfect sense to you when you are dreaming. I know full well I am starting into my dream. My ears will pop and my body will start to go numb. Sometimes I get a tremendous feeling of electricity through my teeth, and sometimes it seems to hurt. Then a lot of times I see a floating ball of white or blue light in the distance that seems to rush at me and engulf me. Sometimes I get scared and wake myself up, but frequently I've been letting it go farther. From there I usually fly over vast oceans, sometimes beaches and mountains, all very beautiful stuff. I can feel the wind in my face as though it is very real. Everything I touch and step on and hear is like it is reality. I've been trying to find people in these places but haven't yet figured out how to do so. But the strange part is sometimes I open my eyes, and am paralyzed, but am half dreaming so I halucinate sometimes. It was funny when you said the thing about moving your arm to see if it really moves. This is so weird cause you are expecting it to move and it doesn't ... sometimes I'll even see trails of where my arm is supposed to move. The thing that concerns me is this feeling of floating out of my body. This is the feeling that comes over me when I am falling asleep. Sometimes I feel as though I'm gonna come out of my body and not be able to get back. Also, sometimes my head hurts real bad, or seems to, when I am in and out of the dream world. Is this just my imagination, or could I have a brain anurism or something like that?? What is your opinion of my occurances? Have I tapped another world, is there anything to worry about? Should I explore further? Thanks for your suggestions!

Does your head still hurt when you wake up fully? Are you still on line right now? It's only been afew min. since your post.

Also I've read some things about this type of dreaming, it does have something to do with sleeping during the day or waking at night then falling back to sleep. Do you notice that it happens more often when you nap during the day. What I read said it's better to empty the bladder before sleeping and to have a mostly empty stomach not full. Have you read any thing about this? How old are you by the way? Diana

hello,
I would like to know, can you do this on command? Can you go to sleep wanting to go into this state and do it? I would like to be able to, but I can's seem to control it. I don't often even remember my dreams, any advise as to how to remeber dreams or to get into a sleep paralysis? Im very intrested in this!
Thanks!

Hi,

I am 21 to answer DRS's question. I don't think it had anything to do with my bladder being full or having a full stomach, and it doesn't happen alot. Yesterday it happenend and left my head feeling kinda odd for about 20 min after I awoke, but I did not have a headache. I have not read anything on this.

Cooki, the key to being able to do this is a lot of practice and concentration. It's almost like meditation I think. I only can do it, usually when I nap, because I think it has a crrelation with REM sleep, that is how deep you go under ... it appears to be harder to do the deeper you go into sleep; however it is much better of an experience the deeper you are because it is much more vivid, almost like reality!!

At first only sometimes I would know I am under. But now I know pretty much all the time, unless I make it a point to not care and just let my body and mind go. But I am usually curious about what I can do, possibilities are endless!! Not to be perverted, but this even goes as far as sex with anybody you want!!! But the flying is awesome!! I sometimes experience flying from the ground strait up into the sky and into the universe. At first this would scare the crap outta me and I'd wake myself up, but now I think it is cool. I really think that everything you ever experienced is up in your head somewhere and can come out in these dreams. That would explain being able to hear lyrics from songs and certain tunes that you would not have been able to remember while awake.

Waking yourself up from this state can get hard sometimes, and takes a lot of mental energy, but if you get good you can do it whenever you like. To be able to fall asleep though I can't have much distractions, so I can't really do it on command. As long as I have a quite place I can do it.

I want to ask a question to DRS about being able to see people that are actually living. If they are living then this must be imagination ... or do you think when we sleep we go into a pool of thoughts that is a culmination of all thoughts that exist apart from all space and time? I have many questions, and many theories. Please offer your insights and/or experiences.

Thanks,
C

Your right on how deep your sleep is that's why these things happen more in the day naps than night time sleep. But if you set your alarm and then stay awake for a short time then go back to sleep, your chances of having this type of dream state is higher. Cooki, before going to sleep tell yourself you will remember your dreams, when you start to wake up lay there for a min. and recall as much detail as possible, and if you keep a tablet by your bed. or a recorder write or record as much as possible of the dream. It takes some practice, just keep trying. For the paralisis, if you want to wake up. Wiggle your toes. This does work.

Uptight, for me I don't recall at the moment of having a dream of talking to someone I know, but I do know someone who has done this. She visited her sister, the next day she called her sister and decribed everything exactly as it happened!! What she was wearing and everything.

Shirley McClain (sp?) had described similar experiences with out of body stuff.

As far as why and how this happens. I don't think the spirit world is so cut and dried as the physical world. This girl I know was really at this place of her sisters, it felt physical to her. I talked to her about it, she felt she could share it with me without being judged as so many people would do.

I had more of these dreams in the past than I do now, not as many opportunities for nappies anymore. And I've been staying up too late, reading this board.LOL.I think if your too tire when you do fall asleep then you go too deep. On the other hand my sister doesn't sleep very long (to go into REM) at a time. But sleeps very deeply. Uptight you say your 21, that's half my age. Just to get our bearings alittle, and to see if age has anything to do with this. Maybe some of the reasons why this doesn't happen as often to me, vs. you. ~~~Cooki, do you want to throw you age in? You don't have to if you don't want to.

Uptight(and out of sight.lol.dreams.)
another angle on this subject, (are we talking just about sleep paralisis or dreams too? I would say both, what about you) The angle would be what state do you think your in? Alpha? Metaphysical? Higher mind at work? Yes, I think there is much we don't remember about this state, and we were born with the ability and have forgotton how to use it as we grow older. It's said we only use a small portion of what we can actually do with our minds. I do believe there are times where everyone has experienced strange coincidenses. My daughter will say something and I'll be thinking the exact same thing.(Many times) Things like this may have something to do with where we go when we rest. What are the other idea do you have, uptight, and cooki as well.

The lyrics and songs part I can identify with. I do this too. Sometimes I'll hear one and I think that song is going to be a hit! (had never heard it before)

If you want to experience this Cooki be prepare to try often. Lay on your back with a light covering like a sheet. Turn your arms so the palms are facing up. And let yourself focus for a while about just resting not sleeping. Your mind will start to wonder, and like Uptight said, you start to think something strange is starting to happen. Or feel something diff. buzzing, electrical, floaty. etc... Another thing I've done is imagine my body in a weightless state. I'm usually not quite sleeping yet when this starts to occur, at that time I'm just on the other side of the fence to the sleep paralisis, I'm not able to move physically, but my mind goes when I command it too.

You must slowly gain more and more concious though in this dream state. At which point I think " what was it I wanted to do when this happens". I should try writing down what I wish to do before resting. This may help me remember what I wanted to try.

Just had to add these thoughts to the rest of the earlier post. Sometimes at my age, we just have flashes of memory.LOL Diana http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tired.gifsweet dreams.

Diana,

I had one other question ... what do you think this ball of white or blue light is that rushes at me?? Has this ever happened to you?

-C

drs
07-02-2002, 08:10 PM
Maybe its the 'light' when going from the physical body to another dimention,(spelling ?)the mind has crossed over so to speak. Like the popping sound before a strange dreamstate, it's like something has to alert us or happen before we reach a certain place in this state of conciousness.

I had the white light rushing past me really fast a couple times.

I've had some~~~strange~~~dreams, sometimes it depends on what I'm working on, like if its spiritual growth, I seem to be challenged by strange creatures. Like small alien type people, who are controling every one else in the dream, this creature was surprised that I could over come his powers. Is that weird or what???

What does the C stand for in your name? Just curious, you don't have to tell anyone. Diana

I get something like this, but it's like a force holding me down!!!! In those dreams even if I try to wakl in the "dream" I'm crawling. If I wake during this stage, I feel that force and always am striving to move, it's again like trying to crawl but on my bed.

Most the time it's like the demon "feeling" I"ve read about, cause it's like this strange "force" holding me down.

IA w/others about hearing being keen.......I hear sounds that are happening say downstairs or something.

OMG does this make me crazy???? This has happened for like 2 years now......is this our body saying we need to slow down, what's UP with this, I just don't get it.

Thanks for any help.

Gin, In a dream if you think along the lines of demon you will feel held back, I try and read something before napping that is about the goodness of the world, then when I dream and I'm aware that I'm dreaming, I think of goodness,peace,love,Joy,etc... This will change the scope of that feeling, when it happens. I do hear voices too, but there is nobody home. If someone was making noise, I'd wake up. You are not crazy!! Lots of people experience this. Try and control it with your mind when it happens, not your body. It's acually quite liberating. Diana

Diana, I'll try your advice to think positive right before sleeping.......(which it's 7am & I'm just NOW about to crash).

I've had pretty tripped out things happen during these dreams. One time I saw myself above my bed and it felt like I was in a roller coaster ride coming back into my body.........was the first time there.

Also felt the weightlessness of flying and soaring in the air..........!!! Then there's the force holding me down.

Does this mean I was in more positive moods to dream and feel the flying, vs. being held down. So strange that I can feel so vivid the lightlessness (okay is that a word lol) during the flying parts. I'd really like alot more info on this........very tripped out and real and unknown!

Gin, also some of the 'held down' or heavy feelings you are getting is because your scared and fighting the flow of your own control. Allow your self to let go and trust that it's just a mental trip without drugs. Out of body experiences can be liberating if your willing to learn and control them through letting go alittle. Once you realize your dreaming, it can be done, then you'll not want to wake up, they'll turn into pleasant mini vacations. Keep at it. Do a search on dreaming, out of body exp., lucid dreaming etc... lots of info out there. Keep in touch. Diana

Question,

I've talked to a few people about this recently and they have told me that this could be the beginning of being able to levetate. I often wondered this cause I often feel when I open my eyes and am still in the sleep paralysis state that my body wants to float upward. I tried this today when I napped. I opened my eyes while I was in the middle of my dream and tried to float upward but the vibration was so great that I got scared and snapped myself out of it. Any thoughts anyone??

Chris

drs
07-09-2002, 12:22 AM
Wow interesting concept. Why do you suppose you got scared? You've done lots of lucid dreaming,You'd think the vibrations shouldn't scare you too much at this point. Think you'll try it again? I'd be interested to know what happened.

You know alot of people talk about being asleep and floating over there body while looking down on it from the ceiling. Is that what your talking about?

I've also read some stuff about a ribbon floating along with you as you fly in the lucid type of dreams, maybe this is the trail your talking about. I think this is what binds us to earth as we travel astrally.

A radio show I listen to on an AM station, called 'coast to coast.'
It has had many programs talking about these diff. kinds of dreams. Along with many other topics. The show is only live late at night, then after that it is a taped broadcast, on the taped show we miss the last hour of it. You should call the AM station in your area and find out if you get it. It's really interesting.

Talk to you later, Chris, nice hearing from you again. Diana

Cooki, I just wrote you a really long post and hit the Wrong BUTTon!!!Dang.

Putting the hands like that,It helps you remember that you are trying achieve the ability of knowing you are in a dream. And it gives you positive energy flow, for a controlled dream. There's lot of energy around us, imagine it all positive.

If nothing else it's always good to imagine the positive energy around us.
{I can't sleep for very long on back, so I have them a certain way while on my side with some pillows, while making sure the face and upper chest are free of any obstructions. That can make you feel closed in, in the waken/dream state. It does for me anyway. I can get kinda closterphobic(spelling?).}

Another thing that's good to do for better energy is just take a warm wet wash cloth and wash your face, neck, arms, belly, and especially the feet.

Imagine the body feeling less pull of gravity, your getting lighter and lighter, thats the feeling of your body weight has disappearing.Like your there physically, but kinda in spirit more.

When you get to the point of feeling this, your real close to realizing your dreams. Just go with it. Diana

PS. I better end this before I lose this post too.LOL

Diane.....I think I did it the other night!!!! I woke up feeling held down again, I way laying on my back....I always seem to try with all my might to move my arms up. So I did try what I learned here to move my feet, and I could do that. I also noticed that I too thought I have moved my arms up but could see they were still down on the bed.

So while still in this state, I just let go, like you said......and it was like I was not only flying but doing cartwheels!!! lol I'm not making this up....it didn't really last too long, cause either I just came to or freaked out not sure. But I was all the sudden UP instead of being held down......

Seeing how the first time this happend I saw myself floating above my bed and felt in my stomach like I was going down a big hill on a rollarcoaster.....hence me reentering my body.

Could this really be an outter body Experience? Or is it like others said being 1/2 awake & 1/2 asleep?

This is all new and confusing to me........it's happened several times over the last few years, but I never bothered to look it up online till I found this site. I don't know what to think!!

OHHH and also the day after I let go, knowing I was going there I tried an expericment on myself. I made myself wait to sleep till I was really sleepy, then.......I had someone call like 3 times in a row to see if waking up and going back to sleep would take me there and it worked again!

This time it gets really weird......I'm gonna hit send & continue this now so I don't get cut off lol.....

Gin79
07-12-2002, 05:20 AM
Diane.........k I'm back, (hate typing alot & being cut off lol)

Anyways this next dream, me & some friends were at the lake somewhere......well I end up at this dock & there's illegal things going on.....something chemical.

Well I get caught and one of my friends get there just in time to save me. We take of in this car/boat that goes underwater....but the weird part was there was like tunnels under water we were going through. It was a long trip underwater and everyone was freaking out cause we were lost.

well we made it out ok, but just the first time for an underwater dream. Mostly they are floating/flying or being held down.

What ya think Diane? Oh, and I answered you 2 times on the A&R board at my post but it didn't seem to come on! lol.....

Gin

Gin, the dream with your friends sounds kind of like your starting to relax a little from what happened to you on 7/3 where your brother rescued you.....Your friends rescued you in the dream and helped you escape.
Then every thing turned out Ok in the end....after the panic subsided...You know???

I've had these wierd under water type dreams too. Driving and swimming kind. I usually associate it with inner stuff, because, we lived in water before we were born. Well that's my opinion anyway.

You had one of those control, but let go dreams....aren't they wierd...keep trying you'll have more control every time...I think they're really cool, wish I could have them more often than I do.

When my mom lived with us,(we found her an appartment last fall) I had some strange dreams...I think it was from the worry and pressure about her health, and her moods. She could get kinda grumpy and she has alot of health problems. She doesn't get grumpy now that she's got her own place, now she's happy to see me...Nice for both of us.

But the foot or toes wiggling thing does work for you doesn't it!!! So glad you had the experience without the held down feeling lasting too long. Keep practicing, you'll get the results you want with practice, control with the mind, 'like a command' and not the body. I've even been able to walk through a door, right though the door. Like a ghost would. Cool I think!!! Happy trails too you..Diana

I just had a very strange occurance. I just had sunk into my pre-dream state, and I was going through this tunnel really fast, as had happened other times, but here is the interesting thing. I had mentioned to you guys before that I can open my eyes during mid dream and be in the sleep paralysis state ... well I did this as I was moving through the tunnel. And what is funny is that while I was flying through this tunnel really fast, It would make this noise as I passed through the circular rings of light that I was flying through. It's kinda like the sound when a moving object moves by you really fast. As soon as I opened my eyes the sound dissapeared, then when I closed my eyes I immediately resumed my flight through the tunnel and the sound came back immediately. What can this tell you? Two totally different worlds huh? One is completely in your mind and thoughts and there can be some overlap sometimes but this other world may be more real than we think. Any thoughts?

Oh and after that, the end of the tunnel was this burst of white light, as usual, and I found my self in this huge building. So I explored it and found some stairs and stuff. I could tell I wasn't deep in REM cause it wasn't as vivid as usual, and I was struggling to keep the images. But it was funny cause at one point I was walking up a stair case, and I was like, what the hell are you doing, why don't you just fly, and I flew up the stairs.

Do you guys think these places actually exist or are they just figments of my imagination?

Thanks,
Chris

Maybe I'll try setting my alarm and getting it to wake me up for a second (like someone else posted) at night. My kids are still quite young (4,11mon.) and I can only get naps in on the weekends, and there hasnt been a calm weekend for me in a while but, This weekend coming I think it will be more calm for me so I'll try then. When you are kind of awake (but still asleep) and can control your dreams it's called "lucid dreaming." There are many books on the subject. There are some techniques you can use to control your dreams.

Your right, it is called that too.

Lucid Dreaming

I was keeping it simple so more people could identify.

Cooki...Congratulations!!!!

Once you start to remember dreams are you seeing anything in them that mean something in your awake life? Sometimes when you have clearer type dreams, it means something to you, like a lesson you should learn....this has happened many times with me.....Do you write them down?

I haven't been doing it lately :(
Summers are so hectic, but I'll start again, soon I hope. Just have to remember to take a note book in there again.LOL.

It's kinda fun to remember them, it's really fun when you start to realize during the dream that you are dreaming!!!! It'll be great for you to experience. Just keep writing what you do remember....it takes time.

Great hearing from you Cook!!!

I think it must be hard to achieve the sleep paralisis when it's so busy in the summer, or to even remember dreams, it seems like I'm forgetting what my dreams are because of so much to do. I'm thinking of what needs to be done when I wake up instead of what I was dreaming about. My daughter has scary dreams when her bladder is full. I always tell her to make sure it's empty so she doesn't have any bad dreams and it does work. Diana

Your so right! Summer is to busy. Now a days when my head hits the pillow Im asleep just a few minutes later. That NEVER happens to me Im always the one to lay in bed and think for at least 30-45 min. before I got to sleep and sometimes longer. But this summer is so busy I am just exausted http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/yawn.gif. I think that when fall gets here my life will slow down a little and dreaming will get better I have been slacking off on my dream journal too. I just dont have time in the morning these days (I know bad excuse but its true) well Keep up the good dreaming! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/tired.gif

It was nice to hear from you again cooki. I do know what your mean about being busy, lately I have been remembering some dreams but no luck having the out of body thing. I was doing it the other day, I just kept trying to get up and it was so hard, I forgot not to try so hard because it had been so long since I had a dream like this. Take care, Diana

this might seem weird but i have had outof the body experiences but i did it on purpose and i also speak to someone eho channels a higher spirit. This spirit told me that when we sleep we go into the astral field. You need to make sure before you get back into your body athat you close the "door" behind you cause it can be a gateway for something bad to come over you. I suggest you ask any entitiy or thing you face if it is from the light or god...be careful because when you are in the astral field anything can happen. when i came back to my body i couldn';t move and this has to do with your soul connecting back to your body....

What is the difference between from the light and from God?? How do you close the door behind you?

Thanks,
Chris

How do you make your self do it on command, I have asked this question before, but I havent been able to do it on command, if you have any tips as to how to reach this astal field. I havent heard about closing any doors or such but if I can ever get there again I will. Please any info would be great. Thanks

I"m not for sure if this relates to any of your discussions about dreams but I would like to share a few dream experiences with you all. A couple of months back I had a dream that sorta came true the very next night!!! Well in the dream I was took to a house where an older man took me into a room and asked me to look down and when I did all I saw was a man <who I did not recongnize>lying on the floor face down with a gun in his hand and in a pool of blood. Well that night after seening that I woke up in a cold sweat scared half to death!!! The very next night I was at my mothers house and heard that a family friend was found the night before <same night as my dream!!> lying face down in a pool of blood with a gun in his hand!!! I found it to be kinda of freaky that I had that dream the exact same night they found this family friend.

This isn't really the first time this has happend to me. I have had dreams coem true before but never this horrible. I always looked at it like the sorta thing that you get the feeling this has happened before or you have been there before. Oh well I just wanted to share this with you all.

Maybe one of you guys has a response on why this happens to me or what causes it to happen.
