Ok, I'm (deleted) and in Jr. High
I can't get to sleep at night and I'm very tired all day long.
I'm wondering, is this some kind of phase people go threw or is it something else?
But, If anybody has any tips on falling asleep (like counting sheep), PLEASE post it here.

Hey hun! Since you're (deleted), it's probly a phase you're going through. I was really tired in Jr. High also. (I'm in high school now, and am still am tired. lol) If your'e always sleepy, and have trouble functioning doing regular activities, you might want to see your doctor. They might do a blood test on you. (I did that, and found that I was low in zinc.) They will help you from there. Good luck! :)

It could also be part of something called ADD tendencies which is what my 12 year old daughter has. Essentially what that means is her brain is constantly in motion thinking of this, that and the other thing and she can't seem to shut it off so she can fall asleep. It also causes her to be distracted during the day. Does this sound like you? If so then you need to talk to someone about finding ways to deal with this so you can learn to get your brain to shut off at night.

Do you drink anything with caffeine 5-8 before you go to bed? Or do you eat anything before you go to bed? I notice that those type of things keep me awake, also times when I become very busy or there are situations that I am going through that my mind just won't be quiet. Maybe put on some music, drink a sleepy time tea or warm milk. Take a warm bath before you go to bed. Read a book, or write all your thoughts into a journal. Get a body pillow to curl up to, and maybe open your window and listen to the wind/rain. These are some things that help me get to sleep.. But I would definitely recommend the warm milk and writing in the journal.
Anyways, hope I helped and good luck!

Hey hun,
Welcome to the boards!
Firstly, try not to take any naps during the day because that can screw your body round. Make sure room is at a nice cool temperature, but not too cool.
Don't drink any caffeine or fizzy drinks or chclate or tea etc before you go to bed and try not to eat after 8 oclock.
Make sure your room is dark or light enough for you to sleep.
Try a glass of warm milk or a nice hot bath or shower before going to bed. Don't exercise right before sleep, because you'll be wide awake, butdo it sometime in the day.
Yoga classes could be good to relax you and your mind.
If none of this works, see your doctr as you may have a sleep disorder, or be lacking in something.
Try the sleep disorders forum on this board too.
Hope that helped!

DramaQueen? Thanks for the welcome! Would water or milk be bad?
QweenyBluEyes: Usually, I go out for dinner and eat at 6-7 pm and sometimes have a soda with my dinner. Even though I don’t do that often, I still don’t get to sleep othrwise. Music keeps me up longer, but I’ll try the warm milk and journal ideas
MlGaBle: I might have what your daughter has. I’ll do more research on that.
CaRFReAK88: lol! : ) I hope it’s a phase so won’t get a blood test… yikes…
Thanks for all of your help and ideas. I’ll be sure to trysome! ;) (No offence to posters b4) Do other people have other suggestions?

Oh yeah... I have tried the music, reading and journal ideas. I was wondering, do you think if I played the exsact same song every night right before I go to sleep, would it help? It's been one night and it didn't help much, but if I do it often....... what do you guys think?
