My boyfriend, a man of 34, has this problem. He's not been diagnosed by other than my seeking a description of his sleep-disturbing behavior on the Net, since he refuses to see a doctor for this.
This has become a severe problem - he wakes me each time we sleep in the bed together, and I am guitily happy to admit that I sleep well when he goes to sleep on the couch (I encourage this, now, so I can get some rest).
Several times each night, when he's sleeping on his belly, he'll be dead asleep and suddenly raise his torso and head off the bed, arms held rigidly at his side, and rock quickly back and forth, shaking the bed forcefully and usually also grunts loudly. Each incident lasts about 6 seconds, and he dismisses my reports of these occurrences.
Where can I get him some help for this problem? Anyone who can help, please contact me. Thanks...
