For the past week or so I have been going to bed around 10 or 11 ( the normal time ) and sometimes I will fall right to sleep or will lay there for awhile but will eventually fall asleep. But I wake up at exactly the same time everynight. I wake up and sometimes can fall right back to sleep and sometimes I lay there for hours... When I do not get any sleep I am not tired at all the next day. I am usually a great sleeper, I can sleep for 12 hours, but not anymore. I take Trazadone 25 mg and Paxil 12.5 mg and 3mg of Melatonin everynight and have been taking this for years, so I do not want to take any more medication.
Does anyone have any advise please...
Thank you

Are you tired during the day? I had the exact same sleep pattern that you described, and after a sleep study mild apnea was discovered. Tiredness and nighttime awakenings like yours were my main problems. Narcolepsy can cause patterns like what you describe, and so can insomnia. Have you had any new stress in your life, or had something disrupt your normal bedtime? If so it may be temporary insomnia. If problems persist definitely talk to your doc. You may even need to adjust your meds. Antidepressants have a big influence on sleep.

There havent been any changes to my life that cause stress. I was talking to my mom today and she has been experiencing the same thing for over a year. How long should I wait before seeing a doctor? I am not usually tired the next day.

Sounds like your sleep pattern hasn't recovered from psychoactive drug use. It will, but it can take a very long time. While it is ajusting, the brain can sometimes be more effiecient during the shorter sleep time, maybe that's why you aren't tired. You must be getting enough stage 4 and REM or you would be.
