EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT... but i'll share my experiences. I've tried Zyban... didn't work for me. In fact, it made me MORE irritable. The patch DID work for me... but I didn't use it as instructed (tried to cut corners, skip steps, etc) and invariably started smoking again. MOST people I know who quit successfully used the patch and used it religiously AS INSTRUCTED on the box. Oddly enough after starting Prozac I noticed my withdrawals from quitting smoking virtually gone. USE the patch, USE a support group, USE Prozac or Zyban... whatever works DO IT. It can be done, and there are enough options/aides out there now... NO EXCUSES! :)

I quit smoking (after 13 years) Sept. 27, 2000 and am THRILLED!! I use Nicorette gum for when I have cravings (usually about 3x a day).
I think before you can quit, you have to be ready mentally. Everyone comes to a point where they feel they are done, they've had enough and I think that is when you KNOW you are ready. Thank God I FINALLY came to that point!!!
GOOD LUCK TO THE REST OF YOU!
