I have made an appointment with my doctor to discuss my options as far as quitting. I have been smoking for about 20 years and smoke a little less than a pack a day. I am hesitant to take Zyban because of the side-effects. But, I only make it 2-3 days when I do it on my own. Am I over-reacting to Zyban? Is there anything else besides Zyban, gum or the patch? I would appreciciate any suggestions and experiences. Thanks.

I can only give you my experience, I used the patch. I quit 3/3/02. It worked for me, but not my husband. I've seen advertisements for a Nicitrol inhaler. I don't know anything about it.
Good luck!

Halderson, I don't want to sound cliche' but, no matter what you use to stop smoking, you have to stop using that as well. I used the patch. Pricey but so were the cigs. If you TRUELY want to quit you will! You already show signs that this is your determination. I'm sure it's going to happen for you. I have struggled with the cravings but I would have those anyway. But I'm doing it for all the right reasons. Thats what really counts.

Thanks for the replies. I am happy to say that I haven't had a cigarette in 14 days! I went to the doctor and she gave me Wellbutrin SR. I think it has helped. Even if it is mostly psychological, I will take all the help I can get. So far it hasn't been too bad. I have my moments, but then I see a smoker and think to myself how dirty and unhealthy it looks. I also look at the skin of the older ones and it looks terrible. This keeps me smoke free. I also found a really good site called quitnet.com. They keep track of how long it's been, how many you have not smoked, and how much money you have saved. There is something about actually seeing these things in writing that makes me realize what a good thing I'm doing. Best of luck to all of you.
