I've been smoking since I was 13 (I'm now 22). I am slightly addicted to nicotine, but I've come to realize that I'm more addicted to the process of taking out a smoke, lighting it up, and bringing it to and from my mouth. I also love making "0's" with my smoke. I smoke mostly when I'm bored (or I'm out drinking). Is anyone else like this? I know I'm addicted to nicotine, but if ciggaretes weren't addictive and didn't contain nic. I would STILL smoke!

That's me, too!

I light a cigarette, before I realize I did it.

I'm trying to start knitting, but it's not like I can bring that everywhere.

Nicotine is a powerful little monster that will make us believe anything.

The "habit" of smoking is like any other habit. It takes some time to form, so it may take a little time to forget. But it's definitely worth it.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was that kind of smoker (recently quit Sept.16th2001). The hardest thing to get over was the actual habit of having one in my hand... I actually started smoking American Spirit Lights about 6 months prior to quiting.. they contain NO chemicals. My body lost it's addiction to all the added chemicals (I was smoking Camel Lights). When I finally decided to quit.. it was all willpower.. I also stayed away from the bar and drinking with my friends for about a month.. just so I didn't get that urge. I ate tons of mints, chewed gum.. As reward after my first month I got myself crest whitestrips.. really made my teeth white.

The habit sucks... and it isn't easy.. but you can quit.. It takes 30 days to lose a habit.. after that its all mental. I can honestly say that I don't have cravings anymore, and if I do they are very short lived.

willpower.. willpower.. willpower

good luck everyone.
