Hi all,
I am new here and hope to be active in many forums - what a great community! I have a dilemma that I am hoping many of you can help with. My husband is trying to quit after years of smoking and is doing quite well - down to 3-4 a day. He has started munching on sunflower seeds which has helped throughout the day. Although they are healthy in many regards they are also pretty high in fat and he doesnt want to end up eating an entire bag each day (or have to run an extra thousand miles to burn them all off). I read a post that suggested frozen grapes which is a fantastic idea and much healthier but so any of you have any other suggestions? We tried carrot sticks but he got sick of them too quickly. I want to give him options so he sticks with it. Thanks all!

I've been smoke free for just over 2 years now (15 year smoker). That's great about your husband! I found drinking lots and lots of water helped. I always had something in my hand, normally a pen just to keep my hands busy. I ate sugar free candies, carrots, celery and tons of gum (which I'm still totally dependent on). Good luck!

ah yes GUM is in great abundance in the office and at home. Twizzlers is a great idea too - chewy and the right shape (well sorta) ;).

Additionally, do any of you successful quitters have any advice for giving up those last 3-4 a day?? It seems like those are just the hardest for him to give up and I dont want him to be satisfied with simply cutting down that much and become a 3-4/day smoker.

You guys are great - thanks!
