Hey everyone. I just started smoking about 4 months ago. I can honestly say I'm not addicted. At least not in the way everyone else is. I'm not addicted to nicotine, I'm addicted to having it in my hand. If its not there, especially if im in the car or walking or just waiting outside of a store for a friend, then I feel so lost. I know theirs things I can do like suck on lolli pops or eat candy but its just not the same. Is their anything else I could do? I feel like its stupid to continue smoking when I'm not even addicted. I don't even like cigarettes...but when I'm concentrating on inhailing and exhailing it takes my mind away from other things

Hi Squiggles,
I hate to break it to you, but you are addicted to nicotine.
Nicotine is so powerful it actually makes us believe we're NOT addicted!
I quit successfully almost 6 months ago. After smoking a pack a day for 16 years, I wasn't able to quit until I acknowledged that the only reason I smoked was because I was addicted to the nicotine.
Best of luck to you.
