Hi guys,
I am quitting smoking for the second time the first time I stopped for about 6 months. The main reason why I started is because I have a hard time sleeping and nicotine believe it or not relaxes me to the point of being sleepy. Anyways, today is day one and I am having funky withdrawal side effects. I have a kind of tingling / slight burning sensation on my skin..no rash just feels someone burning..and tingling...and no got that when their detox and also what others side effects did you feel...any help will be appreciated

I quit just a few days ago. I am also having an itching sensation on my arms and back. Other symptoms that I am having include an itchy throat with a productive cough. Sometimes when I cough, I feel a slight tickle in my ears.
The symptoms that are occuring make me feel like I'm having a severe anxiety attack.
And from that, everything starts to seem surreal. Does anybody know of a way to treat these symptoms other than breathing into a paper bag. Or am I just loosing my mind?
Can somebody please let me know that I'm not totally alone in this.....

Tyr hypnotism! Before my husband tried to quit and he got terrible mouth ulcers and panic attacks! And he is a very manly guy! After the hypnotism he had no sides! Good Luck!

I'm 8 days off cigarettes. I'm feeling agitated, scatter-brained, and having trouble sleeping. These are things I've experienced when I have quit before. However, I have a new (for me) side effect of mild sores on my gums/roof of mouth. At least, I'm attributing these sores to quitting smoking.

Oh, about lack of sleep, someone at Nicoteen Anonymous told me "no one ever died from lack of sleep." I'm not sure if that helps me or not... :)

Hi All, !!CONGRATULATIONS!!

I too recently quit (8 days now). And like most of you, I can'tsleep and am very cranky (putting it mildly). My brother-in-law quit a few months ago and used a homeopathic product that he got at a local health food store that he swears by. He is going to pick some up for me to try so I will keep you posted. Until then good luck and hang in there. - I feel your pain!

It has been about a week now that I started to use this product to help ease the PAIN of quitting. It is called Nicotine Free and its from this company called liddell laboratories. It seem to be work pretty well. I have been able to sleep and have not had to use a patch! So good luck to you all.

I had accupuncture for the 3 days right after I quit smoking, and it seemed to help. It apparently blocks the urge for nicotine, or something like that.
The other thing that helped me was to simply understand that the nasty withdrawal systems are short term. When you have the flu or a cold, you know that you'll get over it. It's the same thing with nicotine withdrawal. This too shall pass.
