Hi Tilly
YES it WILL get better! Hang in there. Will tell you some of the stuff I used to do & maybe something will be of use to you.....
I tried to avoid situations which I associated with a cigarette e.g. a smoke with the first shot of caffeine in the morning. Instead of going straight for the kettle & cigarettes, I changed my routine - went in the shower first, then drank fruit tea, something I didn't associate with smoking. After a meal I leapt up to wash the dishes, instead of the usual after meal cigarette. It was like playing psychological games with myself.
I also collected the money I would have spent on cigarettes & bought myself a present evry week or so. I also tried to avoid drinking too much alcohol as a drink & a cigarette always went together. Initially I had a problem with finishing my drinks too quickly when I was out but a few bad hangovers cured that!
Look in the phone book & find a helpline. I found these people so encouraging & was sent booklets which I found really helpful.
Keep going Tilly - you can do it!

Hi, Tilly. Hang in there! If you stay quit, chances are good you won't develop a lung disease. I now have empohysema, and lots of lung nodules, as a result of my smoking habit. It isn't worth it; smoking I mean. Quitting is hard; but its also hard to have a disease you know will eventually kill you...but before it does, rob you of all breath. This is my future. Maybe it won't be yours. Hang in there...Debbie

Hey If your really having some trouble controlling your cravings try this new water called "nicawater" Its kind of like that patch and the gum and everything but its just a water it works great! My mother smoked for at least a good 20 years or more and she wanted to stop but just couldnt she heard about this water and got it and she had like 3-4 bottles a day and now shes down to a bottle a day and she hasnt picked up a ciggarette in almost 2 months now!! Its great you should try it.
