Been on Zyban for about 11 days, put on patch first thing this morning. Haven't had a cig yet. Tonight's tough but I think I can get through it. Drinking a beer is not helping but hey, you can't give up everything. 41 years old, been smoking for 22 years, pack a day.

I had my first real physical about 4 months ago, failed the sperometry (sp?) test miserably. They say I have Copd on the severe side. Had them fax the results recently because my wife also sees the same doctor and he said she had it also. He's a big anti smoker and loves to use scare tactics. Basically anything that I had asked him about, the answer was 'That's from smoking'

My wife smokes much less than me (1/2 pack a day and had quit for 5 years prior but started again) Her reading said chance of getting Copd was 8% but if she quits 6%, Doesn't make since, sounds like she definately does not have it, again scare tactic.

I think he was on target with diagnosing me, my reading was pathetic, chance of Copd 97%, if stoped smoking 96%, average person my age would spike up to a reasonable level, I was basically flat lining. Just couldn't push the air out. Results showed I have the 'lung age' of a 99 year old. Not sure if I belive that, I am still very active, yes I get out of breath but I'm not dead.

OK, sorry for rambling on but i'm usually in the garage smoking and now am not sure what to do.

Thanks for listening...

Hey, Don't feel alone. I've been trying to quit too. I started Zyban about a week ago and went on the patch three days ago. This morning I broke down and had a cigarette. I'm starting over and going to give it a try. BTW, does anyone have any ideas on how your non-smoking spouse can support you when you're trying to quit??
