I read where they were coming out with a nicotine free cigarette called Quest. I searched the net trying to find it, but I'm afraid they are going to bury it like they did the other time. I know it's not a safe cigarette, but it would be a great crutch for someone trying to quit. I know because I quit smoking twenty years ago with the help of some awful tasting lettuce leaf cigarettes that I ordered from somewhere. I had tried so many times before to quit, and only with the help of these nicotine free cigarettes, could I do it. How nice if they would allow people to have a cigarette that tasted good while they got away from the addictive substance of nicotine. Once you are no longer addicted to the nicotine, you can break all of the other habits that are a part of smoking. I know because I smoked those lettuce leaf things for three months. My daughter is trying so hard to quit, and would like to try the Quest cigarettes. Does anyone know where a person could buy them, or if they are even available?

I'm no help with your question. Just wanted to say that the Patch worked really well for me. I smoked for 27 years and was seriously addicted - patch really made it FEASIBLE AND DO-ABLE. I've been quit for almost 10 months now.

Don't know about Quest, but as of a year or two ago they still made the lettuce leaf cigarettes. There are also some other types of non-tobacco cigarettes, besides the lettuce leaf. Noticed them the other day in the smoke shop. (Those lettuce leaf ones, tried them.. Kind of gross!)

In regards to Quest. It's not bad (better than those lettuce things thats for sure). I started with Quest 1 and moved to Quest 2 in about three weeks. (It's a step up program). I'll move on to Quest 3 in about a month and see what happens. I know have significantlly reduced how much I am smoking. I went from alomst 3 packs a day to 1.

I ordered some after finding them in a search, and I'm already starting to use the nicotine free ones. I am using them as a crutch for those times when I feel like I am going nuts for want of a cigarette. Most people that I've talked to think that going cold turkey is the best way to go, and using these will help with getting the addictive nicotine out of my system. I've tried the patches, gum and everything else I could find, so I'm hoping this will help me to quit smoking.

Here in NY, they have the quest cigs right next to all the other cigs. There's this guy at the Quickie mart back at school...holy geez I wanna kick his butt. He actually conned my room mate out of getting quest because he said they taste bad. I was like" man you're gonna let some gas station attendant try and kill you?" He could be quitting right now if it wasn't for this guy...

Anyways, I've heard they arent the greatest, but I do know they are made by a company called vector. The company also has another product calle OMNI. Apparently these cigs contain less carcinogens, and nicotine, but there is no step down program like with with Quest. Personally I would have got thm, but I've made it a month without them. So I'm trying not to go back to the oral fixation. Hope this helped.

They have managed to make the Quest cigarettes especially bad, but they still serve as a crutch. I wish someone would come up with a nicotine free cigarette that would just have the nicotine removed from the tobacco, instead of using the genetic altered tobacco. They've almost genetically altered the tobacco to turn it into the taste of the lettuce leaf cigarettes. BAD. If they can take the caffeine out of coffee and tea and still have a good tasting product, I can't believe that they couldn't do the same thing with tobacco.

Yes, here in NY the quest cigs are right next to all the other ones....at 7-11, gas stations, and everywhere else. I think they taste very bad, but they are a good crutch for someone that needs it. What I find interesting about them is that they have a charcoal filter (after you are done smoking one, crack open the filter)...this is very good...if marlboro and such used this kind of filter people wouldnt get the nicotine they need! Either way, they taste kind of bad, and I get a headache usually after smoking one, but hey, if it works who cares. I havnt smoked a cigarette in almost 48 hours...but I have had this coming for a while now. About 4 months ago I stopped smoking a pack a day, then I went down to 5-8 a day. So the other day, I got the flu and an ashtma attack at the same time so now I dont even want to look at a cigartte, as much as I would like one! I am told after about 72 hrs. the physical addiction leaves, then its just the mental. Does anyone have any suggestions on somthing to "do" after eating a meal or somthing? I am guessing maybe some gum, or hard candy? Anything else? TIA and good luck to everyone!

JMP...

I was told that brushing your teeth after every meal is good. I've done it a few times. Well...then again, your're ALWAYS supposed to...lol! Anyways, if you think about it, it's something that makes your mouth feel good, just like a cigarette. If your into the oral fixation thing, I guess a toothbrush might fill the void. I've heard cinnamon sticks work well too, because you're getting a little taste of something, like you would with a cig. Good Luck!

Quest cigarettes are not too good on the heart, they may help you quit cuz I've heard they taste as bad as the lettuce ones you smoked. The lettuce ones are on the internet somewhere I remember. Also there is another brand of cigs (think it's [removed].com) that claims to have lesser carcinoens, odorless, and have lesser secondhand smoke. While none of these cigs are "safe", it'll be best to stick to lettuce rather than Quest. Trust me on this :)

I disagree. Quest has been shown in limited studies to help people quit. I would wait for a more comprehensive study to take place, but it seems there is something to it.

I have tried quest 1, 2 and 3. The quest 3, nicotine-free does lack in taste, but I have learned it is because it only contains one kind of tobacco. Quest 1 and 2 are better and lower in nic. I do know people who smoke quest now and smoke less. But I do suspect like anything else, it doesnt work for everyone. Ultimately it's up to you.

IMHO, I would not disregard Quest so quickly.
