Hi everyone,
I am due to have facet blocks c5/6 next week which I have had twice before for bulge c5/6. I am also having a nerve block c6 for arm pain. I am nervous about this and not sure whether to bother as the arm pain is not nearly as bad as my headaches. Does anyone know whether this c6 block can help with the upper back pain and headaches aswell? I had c3/4 facet shots a month ago and still having horrid headaches. The arm symptoms for me are new and only right sided. I have some weakness but it's not such a big deal. Can anyone tell me if the arm pain gets worse over time?

Hi Mel,
Well your questions are so valid and the answers are so individual. Everyone responds differently to these injections. The whole thing is so frustrating, I think you are on the right track with doing more research. Check out ISIS, online that is the International spinal injection assoiation. Once in you can pick out the list of different injections, click on them and get more info. The sight is meant for medical pros. but you should be able to get the info.
I wish you all the best, i know how overwhelming this is. Did you see the note I left you ? I think i saw you on another site, and left you a Hello.
Please take care of yourself, Mel
ps just found another site for you to try, on cervicogenic headaches, which expains the injections, here goes; http://www.cervicogenic.com/treat.htm
There is alot of info if you search under cervicogenic headaches and occipital neuralgia. Hope this helps. ;)

Mel,
Sorry you are having so much trouble. I am heading for the epidural injections myself.
I have the headaches, doozy of one now and the arm pain. For me the arm pain has gradually worsened and my left hand is getting weaker. Today, I had that darn burning pain radiating into my right arm, and had only had left arm involvement before.
If the nerve continues to be compressed, I would think that nerve damage might be inevitable. Luckily, well sorta, I had a flair up of asthma, so just started 60mg of prednisone and hoping it will also help decrease the inflammation.
Hope you get relief soon, I can tolerate the arm pain, but you are right, the headaches are the worst.

God bless,
Lea

Hi Mel,
Thanks for the info. I need all I can get. I am always searching medical sites etc and they can be quite difficult to decipher. I am stating to get a clearer picture of how some of these injections and procedures just have to be done trial and error to see what helps.
I hope your feeling ok and getting into study. How are your headaches? and are you having surgery soon? You should specialise in this area somehow? It would be great to have more Health care professionals who actually understood from the patients point of view.
Hi Lea,
I would be interested to see if the pred helps your arm/head pain. I hope my facet and nerve blocks help the headaches I will let you know. It sounds like you may need some very soon. Hope things improve for you.

Hi Mel,
Hope you are having a good day. I have been having a rough week, headaches etc.
I am glad you are getting through the sites for info, it is probably the best weapon we have. As for my studies, everything is on hold still( since July). I cant imagine resuming until I get this flare up under control, although I am beginning to think that this one is not going away on its own. Hopefully when i get back into it , I am seriously considering doing something with all of this. There are a few options available.
I have no surgery date yet, but am going to the neuro hospital in Chicago next week, should have all of my answers and options then. I am going to take the train there, thought about flying, but the trudge through the airport and walking through the plane to the washroom was a little frightening. So we booked a room on the train, bed , washroom all right there. I'll just sleep in the bed( or try to) for the overnight trip. I believe it is a 10 hour trip. I can hardly wait, it is light at the end of this long tunnel.
Please take care of yourself, Mel
ps; was that you on the other site?
