Hello all - looking for some help in trying to ease the pain of withdrawal from prescribed narcotics. I was taking dilaudid pills everyday for 6 months due to severe ulcerative colitis to manage pain. As I have been trying to get off the med and tapering for the past month and a half, I have been extremely uncomfortable and exhibiting all the classic signs of narcotic withdrawal. It's been 6 days since I have had ANY narcotics at all and I expected to feel better by now, but don't - still very shaky, jittery, bad headaches, diarrhea, no appetite, etc. Was wondering if anyone had any advice on speeding up the cleansing process. Are there products out there that help cleanse, or specific foods, or natural supplements, or is this something that just has to run its course? And if so, how long can I expect that to take? My MD is little help and just tells me to "hang in there, you will get thru it."
Any help would be appreciated. I am tired of feeling bad especially since I have been totally medication free for nearly a week. Thanks.

I had back sx on 7/1 and was becoming dependent on Percocet. Addicted is more like it. I had had enough with living a half life!

Here are my survival tips-I find that this detox bath helps: 1cup Epsom Salts, 1cup baking soda as hot as you can stand it. Don't sit longer than 15 min. Also, I take a Kava-Kava suppliment, St. Johns Wort twice a day. If you have tranqs on hand, use them. I take 1/2 Valium before bed. You gotta fight with the weapons at hand! Good luck guy! It really bites, doesn't it.

Personally, I started:

1. Using probiotics (just search healthfood store for it)
2. Using sauna everyday
3. Drinking lots of water
4. Going back to the gym

I'm feeling a little better from dilaudid wd. I know that you may be wondering how you can do all these things if you can't even move a finger due wd. You have to start little by little.

Want to let you know that I'm still in the middle of my battle, and these what help me. Good luck and God bless!

Water and sauna......YES. Drink lots of water and pee as much as you can. Exercise if you can handle it.....walks when you are tweaking out will calm you down some.
