Here's my start, feel free to add anything I miss

ACDF: Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion
CR: Cervical radiculopathy
CT: Computerized tomography (diagnostic test)
DDD: Degenerative disc disease
DH or DW: Dear husband or wife
EMG: Electromyelogram (diagnostic test)
MRI: Magnetic resonance imaging (diagnostic test)
NS: Neurosurgeon
MIL,FIL,BIL or SIL: Mother, Father, Brother, or Sister-in-law
OA: Osteoarthritis
ON: Occipital neuralgia (headaches from h*ll)
Ortho: Orthopedic surgeon (With spinal specialty)
PT: Physical therapy/therapist
RA: Rheumatoid arthritis

We need abbreviations for Laminectomy (LAM?) and foraminotomy (FOR?), as those are long words and a number of us have undergone these procedures. Suggestions?

Hi Nancy,
How about also adding EDS and ESI- epidural steroid (injection)- I think different places call it different things; 'course we can all agree to just call it epi
And WC- Workman's Compensation (as opposed to water closet, which is what I keep wanting to call it)

Good one with the WC, Wing! While not all of us have work related injuries, enough do that it merits addition to the list!

ESI makes sense. Someone used EDS recently and I hadn't heard that before. Makes me think too much of a certain company and Ross Perot. So I'll stick to ESI or Epi myself :)

Yeah, Bounce. The first time I saw PCP it took a few minutes to figure out it meant Primary Care Physician. So that's another to add to the list.

Thanks for the additons, folks! Volume 2 will be issued next month :)

Bump

I needed to check something and I thought I would bump this up to keep it available for newbies and us oldies who can’t remember crap. :)

Silly me . . . as I was reading through the topics in search of this thread, I found myself thinking things like, “ aww, I remember that one.” or “ oh, that one was so sad” or “ now that one was a hoot.” It certainly was a nice trip down memory lane. :)

How about ABCDEF means I see the letters mean something to do with the surgery but just haven't figured it out yet. Trying to be cute, gues it is just too early in the morning. You all are wonderful. I can feel really scared about what is happening to my DH and then I read here what is going on with him and it really helps...Thanks
