Hi Teri, Belle and all...
I'm still recovering, but more from my fun weekend in Chicago than the epidural. The shot was almost going to be a bad experience, and would have been my own fault.
They had told me to take nothing by mouth for 6 hours prior to the epidural. Well, dummy me was doing just fine until I saw that almost finished bottle of Diet Coke on the bedroom dresser. Hey, I was thirsty, so I downed it. About 5 minutes later I realized what I had done. My estimate was I drank about 8 ounces.
I was honest with the nurse at the PM clinic and she said I could always do like last time and take the epi with no sedation. I wasn't thrilled but wanted to get it over with.
Then a nurse who was with me the last time heard about it and said she remembered me and how shaky I was, and she talked with the doc. They gave me an IV of Versed, though they said they only gave me half of what they normally administer for an epi. While I wasn't totally out I was definitely not mentally all there. I heard things like, "here comes the medicine" and "all done", but didn't feel a thing. I was pretty darn groggy for about an hour after.
I'm sore on the back of my neck and shoulders but I have to admit I did a lot yesterday. All in all, a much more pleasant experience than the last one!

Hi Nancy,
Good to hear that your experience was better than the last time.
I must say that your downing of the Coke story had me thinking it would make for a great commercial....
when you just gotta have a coke!!
Hope you feel better soon.
Take it easy.
Hugs, Catherine

Nancy,
AHHH, the power of a Coke!
Glad to hear that all went well. It's got to be a big relief to know that that's your last one. Now, bring on the carbonation!!!
