Hi All,
I have been searching myelograms and you all have given me wonderful info!! Thank you! I have one question though....most of you say not to eat anything after midnight the night before. My instructions say to eat normally but lots of fluids. Did anybody vomit after the procedure??

Midge, my fellow Michiganian, I don't know what time you are scheduled for the myelogram. I do recall being told not to eat or drink anything in the morning. They didn't give me anything to "relax" me, I would think because they want you to move your head around so dang much.
You might want to double check your instructions to be safe.
They kept bringing me food (cereal, juice, crackers) in the recovery room. No nausea problem here! Just remember to lay down for at least 24 hours, and keep a pitcher of water right next to you! No nasty headaches allowed. :D

Nanner,
Thanks! I am scheduled for the myelogram at 9am on June 5th, and they said expect to be there 6hrs, it's not at the hospital. I'm gonna ask for something to relax me. I am very prone to headaches so I hope I don't get one!!

Midge,
I was told not to eat anything prior to my myleograms. I have never experienced nausea or headaches with any of them. I'm not sure if the eating restrictions have much to do with how high up the myleogram will be performed or not. I wish you the best experience possible...and, more importantly, lots of answers. You'll do fine...

Hi,
I want to wish you luck with your myelogram. I had one in March. I was told nothing by mouth after midnight. This is to reduce any chance of vomiting or nauseau. I also asked if I could take a sedative and was told no on the phone. When the hosp. called the evening before I asked again and they told me I could take my regular meds. in the am with very little water. Then when I arrives at the hosp. I asked one more time if I could take a sedative and they told me yes. I did take one and it definetly relaxed me. Test was a breeze except for headache at the end which only lasted 1 hour. Good luck
