Hi!
I'm trying to get all prepared and to ask all the right questions concerning the surgery. What should I ask?? Like:
1.What are the risks of the surgery?
2.What are the risks if I don't do the surgery?
3.What will be done in surgery?
4.What is the recovery time?
5.How can I prepare for surgery?
Anything else that I should ask that you asked, or maybe should have asked?? My appt isn't until June 12th, but I want to be prepared.
Thanks!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dance.gif

Hey Midge! Welcome to the board! I asked my surgeon how many of MY TYPE of surgery he did each year (or each month or week), what HIS RATE of complications was, if any of his patients had voice difficulties post-surgery, if he had ever been sued, or sued and lost, etc... I think it's fair to ask these things, and my surgeon answered them.... I'm assuming he answered honestly! :) I'm sure someone else will have more suggestions. It's hard to stay organized with all this stuff, but the benefits more than pay off, I believe.
Good luck...

Midge,
Nothing wrong with being informed ! This site along with www.spineuniverse.com (http://www.spineuniverse.com) will help you get through this. Once you find out the name of the procedure you can play detective ;).
Best of luck,
Lori
