View Full Version : Addiction to diet pills for energy - mother of 2 would like help

I am a 27 year old wife & mother of two young boys. I always seem so drained of energy and vitamins do not work. I have been taking Stacker 2 for the purpose of energy, I am not overweight. I do occasionally take a Vicodin or Didrex if offered, but I do not seek these out for the reason they are illegal if not prescribed.

I generally take 2-3 Stackers a day and drink excessive amounts of caffeine. I just feel I do not get as much done in a day without the extra boost.

I am concerned about my health & the effect on my heart. I am beginning to get headaches and stiff neck and have had a few episodes of chest pain. My concern is hurting myself while trying to take care of everyone. I have tried multi-vitamins, had bloodwork done for anemia and all are normal. I just have no energy.

Also, I am beginning to get a twitching sensation in my left are & hand regularly.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it and would love to have a high energy level naturally.

Do you have any other physical symptoms? You could have any number of illnesses that won't show up on the typical blood test. Chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia are two I can think of right off the bat, but there are many others. Hormones and thyroid conditions need to be checked as well - they can totally wipe out your energy source if something isn't working right. It's HARD to find a doctor who is compassionate AND willing to go the distance for you - to keep trying and testing until he finds out what the problem is. I'm not one to talk about abusing substances, but I do know that these OTC drugs for 'instant energy' can cause serious harm to your heart and other organs. Think of your children first - always - how devastated they would be if their wonderful mother died because of these stupid diet pills. Be there for them as long as you can, and enjoy watching them grow up. Gosh, having two children is exhausting enough so you need to have further testing to see what the problem is. In the meantime, you would probably benefit from a low dosage antidepressant. Please try to find a GOOD doctor - the bad ones can ruin your life if you listen to them. Do LOTS of research on the net - there's valuable information out there - and see if you can find possible causes before you even go see your doctor. These days you have to be the aggressor! Do your homework and let the good doctor follow up with the proper tests.
BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I forgot to add a note about caffeine... I did the same thing to try to get more energy. I found that the more caffeine I drank, the less energy I had. It can actually have the opposite effect! Try to drink fresh juice instead of your afternoon coffee for a while and see if that makes a difference. If you aren't any peppier, but not any more tired than before, than you'll know that the coffee wasn't doing you a bit of good anyway!

Good luck.....

I can soooo relate!! I am the mother of 3 young boys and am exhausted all the time. Even when I get a full nights sleep (which is rare) I wake up tired and feel like a walking zombie. Caffeine helps for about a minute...then I just want to take a nap. I did buy a juice machine, a very inexpensive one and started making my own juice. The one that gave me the most energy is the apple/carrot juice and it is really good! I feel an instant lift and it carries me throughout the day. And...I have been drinking tons more water instead of caffeine. The diet pills...been there..gets you thru the day, then you just need more then next day and the next day. I wish we could e-mail and chat. Sounds like we have alot in common.

Hi 'ding'

I also agree with you about withdrawing from Oxycontin. Just from speaking with addicts and chronic pain patients, unless they can do a nice slow taper they do experience some major withdrawal symptoms.

Regarding this post, just curious as to why you suggested that the original poster could benefit from a low dose anti-depressant??

Thank you//woodstock

Long term use of caffeine will drain your energy. When the caffeine in your system runs out, you'll feel tired. And the diet pills too. Maybe you should try to cut down on caffeine since it can cause spasms and twitches in some people.
