Hi folks, I had my pre op a little while ago and it looks like a double fusion with titanium plates on 4-5 and 6-7. One day in the hospital and a soft collar for two weeks. He was laughing by the time I left and accused me of being a know it all. Thanks to you guys I knew what to ask and my ortho said he would rather have an educated patient. I have inclosed my mri results so you guys can help me dechiper them. Thanks again for all the support. Ya'll are the best.

Sagittal views reveal norman curvature of the cervical spine with normal alignment of the vertebral bodies. Disc bulges are noted ar C5-6 and C6-7 with associated spondylosis and uncinate spurring. Spondylosis produces localized spinal stenosis at these stwo levels. Axial views reveal the spondylosis at C5-6 and C6-7 spanning the width of the canal with a resulting canal stenosis. There is also noted to be hypertrophic change of the oncovertabral joints with moderately severe bilateral foraminal stenosis at these two levels.
Dang, sorry to be so longwinded.
Love to all and will appreciate any and all advice.
Peach/Ginny

Hi Ginny!

I smiled at the vision of your NS laughing at your wealth of knowledge. Isn't this place the greatest!!
"There's no place like home!!~~~"

I read your report~ & it is all Latin/Greek/Swahili/ to me!! sounds like you need surgery though!!

I have a sneaky suspicion though that one of our many nurses here shall be along shortly to expand on the findings.
You know, I should really do the same thing~~~ even though my surgeon spoke to my DH normally, he was able to translate into laywoman's terms for me.( to the best of his ability!) I would like to know what was really going on!!

so~~~~~~~`I guess now, you are just going to go about your daily life until the 18th. Keep up the great attitude!! It will get you far!

As you have discovered, you are truly not alone!!

Until later, I remain, praying for you.

Catherine

Hi,

Like Catherine said it would be good to look into things more. If the pain is interefind with your life I would consider surgery. I have c5/6 protrusion and am having surgery soon. What sort of pain do you get? neck/ arm or headaches also?
Take care and keep up the knowledge these dr's need to be kept on their toes.

Thanks Catherine with a C my middle name is Catherine with a C as well..S I appreciate the response and it sure does help. I was chuckling a little when I left the Dr as well. The whole thing took about ten minutes. He was chuckling, Yes, No, Plate, Titaniun. It was amusing. Humor can make the heaviest load lightened.

Thanks for answering. I have alot of neck pain, arm pain at times and shocking sensations(lhemittes sign) and the Dr said that is the proper name for it. I have always had migraines so maybe this will help them as well. My motor skills have deteriorated. My grasp on a pen or pencil and most anything fine motor has gone downhill. Hope all goes well for you today. I read your post over this one and I get really sick from the anthesia so they can give you something in your IV that will help that. The just automatically give me Phenegren in mine.
Have a peaceful day.

Hi Ginny,
The arm pain is awful. I find the headaches/migranes the worst. The disc type headache seems to produce these head pains. There seems to be a whole area of info on disc pain which I never knew of untill recently and it talks of nausea also which I get with the headches. Are you going to look further into things? It sounds as id surgery may really help you. Take care,

Mel

Hi Ginny,

I understand about posting the email, prob. not a good idea, I went out for awhile (WallyWorld in Lucedale) naturally, and did not catch it to email you.

I had my C4-5 and C5-6 fused with my first surgery, so I can relate to you. I wish you speedy recovery.

I will be flying to Pittsburgh tomorrow for 10 days and will be back on the 16th of June, I see your surgery is the 18, let me know how you are when you feel able to post afterwards.

After you have recovered maybe we can meet for lunch in Mobile and talk "cervie" talk. :)

Hi dear,
Post when you get back and have a safe flight. My son lives in Pittsburgh and is flying next week with my newest grandson. It is indeed a small world. The talk sounds great so let me know when you return.
Stay Safe

I intend to. I scheduled my fusion after thier visit just so I could hold him. He is 5 months old and weighs 20 lb already. I flew up in Feb and Have not help him since...sigh. Anyway I will just have to rack up frequent flyer miles.
