Don't you just hate recovery? I had 2 really good days, and I was good too, promise, cross my heart http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/heart.gif Then out of the blue last night, I had excruciating pain and still having probs today. Was up til 3 a.m. taking everything at my disposal to get the pain under control.
I know it is a normal part of recovery, good days and bad days, just disappointed that I had to resort back to the hydrocodone.
You know, I was so good, that when I took my son to a birthday party, that I didn't get in the go carts or bumper boats and the other parents took Josh on the supervised rides. No laundry, haven't even cleaned my kitchen, ick, you probably didn't want to know that :)
Heck, I haven't even vacumned! Sigh, guess I'll take it easy this weekend and get reassurance from the NS on Monday when I get my post op x-ray.
Going to stay off the computer the rest of the weekend. Will let you know how my appt goes.
Love you guys.

Hi Honey,
So sorry you're having a painful day. In trying to make lemonade outta lemons, maybe you can remember that it's one more day closer to recovery. I don't know if that's a help, but I'm trying the "Any Port in the Storm" theory here. :)
No bumper cars is a bummer, but a wise move. It sounds like you had fun anyhow. I'm glad you were able to go with your son.
TLC and Prayers are headed your way

Aw Leah,
I am so sorry that you are having a rough time with the pain. It is a part of the recovery process, but still so dissapointing. You are doing the right thing,
in taking it completely easy this weekend.
And by the way, I guess you shouldn't have been vacuuming and going on rides, you are much to sensible for that. :D
Rest and use the meds to help your symptoms, You are in my thoughts and prayers.Good luck with your xrays on Monday, and keep us posted.

Lea,
I'm glad your common sense kicked in and you avoided those bumper cars and vacuuming. Bumper cars after cervical spine surgery....I got a painful twinge just imagining that! Hang in there, there's light at the end of this tunnel and you're closer than you think. :D

Lea~~
sorry to hear about the pain issues.
Ahem!! You are not even 1 month post-op!
I understand the frustration of having to take things at a slower pace; & sometimes having to forego other avtivities all together!!
But please!!!!!!! take care of you!
bumpercars! schmumper cars!
This summer when we attend the annual county fair here,
I intend to be the one holding the camcorder!!
Hope you feel better~~~~~everyday!
Looking forward to GRrrrreat news following your x-ray on Monday.
You know how we can get around here.
so, please let us know when you can!
Until later, I hope you do rest this weekend!

hey lea
nothing makes me crazier than seeing wrestlers (my kids watch) with the same surgery as all of us, get back in the ring and throw 2 hundred pound men around some times 3 or 4 hundred pound men. when we need to be real careful and not lift laundry!! what is wrong with this pic. i have 3 teenage boys and a hubby do you know what my house can end up looking like if i don't do anything??? yuck lol. oh they try and it is nice but i swear sometimes they do awful just to make sure we don't continue to ask too much lol.
but when the wrestlers can bend and lift all that weight and we have to be careful not to lift too much close!!! doesn't it just make you crazy sometimes!!!

Sorry to know that this rollercoaster ride has taken a bad turn. But it's in your favor that you already know this can be expected and better days are ahead. Continue to take good care of yourself.
Speaking of rollercoasters and amusement rides, I guess the coasters will be out of the question for me this year. :( I'll just have to find another place to do my screaming! :D
Take Care,
~Teri

I'm so sorry that your having more pain. Please take it easy and remember to rest, rest, and more rest. My ortho would not even discuss me driving or even taking my collar off for me to sleep for 4 more weeks.

Sorry to hear about your pain.Remember things take time to heal and you will have more good than bad.
You are a wise lady not to do bumper cars and vacuuming. Those will come in time at least you were able to spend time with son.
Pray that things are better for you today

Lea -
My back doc told me to avoid excessive bending and under no circumstances to use a lawnmower, not even self propelled.
This has given me an excuse to hire someone to cut my lawn and I have hired a housekeeper to come in twice a month. The cost of mowing is outrageous, but the housekeeper is very reasonable. It still scares me to come home every other Wednesday and find my dished washed and my bedsheets changed. She's aware of my back condition and has been very helpful.
One thing that made me bust a gut laughing, one of my friends at work told me that since my doctor suggested all of this, I ought to see if I could get my health insurance to pay for it. :) LOL 10 points for originality.

You guys make me giggle :)
I had a better day yesterday. Woke up with NO PAIN and stayed that way for several hours. Only took Ultram and then the Soma and hydrocodone last night.
Muscles are real tight today, but nothing I can't handle.
I am off to get my first postop xrays and talk with NS about returning to work. Things are getting a little tight financially, but it has been tighter than this in the past. Hope to return to work on the 24th as originally planned.
