Hi Midge,
I hope all went well with you. I'm waiting to hear. Let us know when you're able.
Thanks for keeping this schedule up! It's appreciated and needed. At some later date, I'd be glad to help, but just can't this summer.

My surgery will be July 15th. The June 5th date can be permanently stricken from the schedule. I know you're recouping from the big "M", so rest well and post when you can.

Hi Midge,
Would you please add me to the list.Seeing NS at VA on 25 Jun to go over MRI results.
Well I made my choice. I talked to my PCP and we agreed that it was up to me. If the NS from USFHP ( military HMO) does not wish to do the surgery, I am free to use the VA NS. In doing my research and taking the advice from other here, I don’t wish to get any permanent nerve damage from the STENOSIS I have. I was hoping to get an early birthday (Jun 6) gift with a appointment that was to be on the 4th but VA NS had a emergency, VA NS appointment change to 25 JUN. I’m trying to get his nurse to call me to see if a surgery date can be set before I see him since the MRI showed no change in 18 months. I hoping to get a surgery date for sometime in Sep. may be the 18 Sep.
Well last Friday I hit the BIG 50 and fall apart
Jim

Hey Jim,
Look on the bright side of your procedure getting postponed (because alot of things happen like that for a POSITIVE reason)
Now you can get everything set up perfectly for your speedy recovery, Your not guessing anymore about whats gonna happen and you can take it easy until your surg time and still indulge in your hobbies.
I found out personally that the time I waited helped me tremendously in learning EVERYTHING about what was going on or possibly go on b4, during, and after surgery and youll get to a point where understanding and accepting everything leaves no stones unturned for a speedier recovery.
BTW happy B'day!

Jim,
You're added!!
I don't blame you not wanting permanent nerve damage from the stenosis. What is causing your stenosis?? I have stenosis at C4-C5 and mine is caused by bone spurs, and I'm only 38!! At least the MRI shows no change, that's good! I would try to get the surgery set up too, or at least another appt in case that one has to be postponed again!!
http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/birthday.gif Happy Belated Birthday to you!!! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/birthday.gif

Hi Midge & RBF,
Thank you both for the push. I think I needed the help to make up my mine. I’ve been reading the post here since Apr.. Also thank you Midge for the Happy Birthday. As for what is the cause of my STENOSIS the reports list disc protrusions at C4-5, disc bulge and protrusion at C5-6, and disc bulging and bony ridging with protrusion at C6-7. DR. No Surgery (HMO doctor) did say I had bone spurs and looking at the MRI I have also seen them.

Injured @ work on 5/29/03
6/5/03 MRI Cervical Spine Results
C2-3: Disc normal in height. Mild bulging posterior annulus. No central canal stenosis present.
C3-4: Intervertebral disc normal in height. Small posterior osteophyte/disc complex which causes effacement of the ventral surface of the thecal sac but no central canal stenosis. Mild to moderate right & mild left neural foraminal narrowing due to facet arthropathy & uncovertebral osteophytes.
C4-5: Moderate disc space narrowing. There's a posterior osteophyte/disc complex with possible superimposed posterior central/right paracentral disc extrusion which migrates minimally along the posterior aspect of L5. Results in mild acquired central canal stenosis. There's moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing due primarily to uncovertebral osteophytes & less so to facet arthropathy.
C5-6: There's moderate to severe discogenic disease. A broad based posterior osteophyte/disc complex causes effacement of the thecal sac resulting in mild acquried central canal stenosis. There's moderately severe bilateral neural foraminal narrowing due primarily to uncovertebral osteophytes.
C6-7: Mild disc space narrowing. There's moderate bilateral neural foraminal narrowing due primarily to unconvertebral osteophytes.
C7-T1: Intervertebral disc is normal in appearance.
Thanks Again!
