Good Morning AngelicMoon,

It was a magical night when I was 16 years old. If you remember a night when everything was absolutely perfect, then you can relate to this night.

I was with the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. We had the most perfect date of my entire life. We went out to eat and a movie, holding hands as we walked. We were in a larger town 50 miles from our home town. On our way home we having a great time, great conversation, great little kisses as I was trying to drive. So I thought the timing was right,we stopped on a dirt road a few miles from home. (I'll leave out this part due to the fear of saying something I shouldn't.) But before we left, we just set and held each other, not saying anything... looking at a moon that was shining ssooo bright and was so beautiful! I'll never forget that....Your name gave me a flash back on what was the single best night of my life!

If your wondering what happened.... did we keep dating? The answer is yes, but only a couple more times. Neither one of the other dates came close to that night. We didn't really have anything in common.
But for that one night...... It was truely a "once in a lifetime moment."

I hope you enjoyed my little story and thank you for reminding me of it.

Harvey

Yup, that's how I operate...hit & run! lol :p

Did you say the 40's?!!! Good Lord how old are you? You were ready to retire anyways weren't ya? (referring to your permanent disability) you probably already have your AARP card, if not, it's in the mail :p (oh how I love picking on you...lol, I don't know why, I just do, you and Keith) Now, what's the status on the Cervie People tour? When is the grand debut? You got those pups ready for some action? Teaching them all the right moves? Colorado is waiting to give you all a Rocky Mountain high, er...uh...welcome!

Anyways, thanks for stapling all those calendars together for us girls. I'll order one today. ;)

Yours Very Truly,

DebbieMc :)

DebbieMc,

I know Keith and he deserves it.... I'm just guilty by association because we're in the Cervie People Tour together. :)

I'm not sure when we're going to start the tour. Keith hasn't informed me if his act is perfected enough to hit the road. I'm not sure but the word is out that AJ, Joanne, Teri, Mel 1 & Mel 2, you ,angelicmoon, and 3 more unnamed young ladies are going to impersonate the Rockets!! Boy I can't wait to see that!! Is it ok if I whistle? :D

We can't wait to come see you girls "out west". I've never seen a girl carry a six shooter before... :) I've seen them do six shots... is that the same thing? lol

Have a great evening mean one,

Harvey

P.S. I turned 46 last April but after the surgery I feel 86! :)

Harvey, that was a great story about your teen years. It's funny how we can recall all those great moments as if they took place yesterday isn't it? Yet what took place this morning we can't remember! Women always say us guys never listen, especially when we say we were never told something. Although, in defense of us men, I think sometimes they don't tell us, but want us to think we didn't hear them so we can feel guilty when we aren't. It took me a while (45 years) but I think I'm finally catching on to this thing.
I feel like I'm in my 80's also for the past week or so. Man it's been humid and wet here in the northeast and I feel like somebody ran me over with a dump truck, backed up, went forward again, and then dumped the load of gravel on me! I had to resort to dipping back into the pain pills pretty heavy this week, something I have been trying to avoid as much as possible. I imagine scraping and painting from up on a ladder these last 2 weekends hasn't helped that a whole lot either. (Hey, I never claimed genius status).
That tour is sounding more and more fun all the time. I might even get my wife (she's named Debbie also) into the routine, she loves traveling! She's really good on organizing things and keeping them on track, so we can have her handle all the details and bookings for us. She doesn't mind me being on display, even if the cloth drops, she figures everybody needs a good laugh! :D

Six shooter huh? lol...let me tell you a story about me and a six shooter...and why I'm not allowed to touch them anymore.

My husband insists on keeping a loaded revolver in our headboard and I'm completely opposed to it. Afterall, we've always had 2 big dogs and there is no reason to have loaded guns in the house, we have an early detection system and very effective deterrent with the dogs. So I insisted that he unload the gun(s) because he would have plenty of time to load it if he ever needed to use it (which has been never.) Well, he kept telling me he unloaded it, but I didn't believe him and wanted to be sure. So one day, I came home for lunch and decided to have a look to see if he was telling the truth. Now mind you, I don't know anything about guns but I was determined. So I looked in that revolver thingy and couldn't tell, so I cocked it and still couldn't tell. Of course then I was terrified to do anything else with the gun because it was cocked, so I gingerly put it back in the headboard and went back to work. I told the guys at work what I had done and asked what I should do. So, after they said in unison "YOU DID WHAT?!!!" and quit laughing at me, they told me what to do. So I come home, but was still scared of the gun so I didn't do anything and was scared to death to tell my husband what I did. So a week or so went by before I got up the courage to tell him...lol I never saw him go so ballistic on me in my life! He screamed at me "You mean I've been sleeping with a cocked gun over my head for over a week?!!!" to which I sheepishly replied "yes." So I got the lecture about how every gun should be treated like it's loaded (this one wasn't afterall) and was marched down to the shooting range to learn about guns.

So we take the revolver and the little 22 automatic and I learned about guns. I'm a really good shot and that got him even more worried...lol Head and torso shots were too easy if you get my meaning. Besides, he said if I ever shot someone with a 22 I'd only piss them off, so I figured if I was going to piss them off, I might as well really piss them off...if ya know what I mean. So anyways, it's January, it's freezing in there, so I have a long hooded coat on, and I'm left handed. I decided I liked the revolver better because it was funner (bigger bang ya know) and since I'm left handed, it kept discharging into the hood of my coat...unbeknownst to me. So we do our thing and my husband is finally satisfied that I can handle a gun if I need to (and would never do anything so stupid as to put a cocked gun over his head again) and we go to the store on our way home. Since the hood of my coat was up the whole time I had no idea that all those shells were in my coat. Just as we were walking into the store, I threw the hood back off my head and all these bullet shells (or casings, or whatever the heck they're called) fall out of my hood on the ground. I heard all the clatter when they fell and I was standing there looking at them on the ground and when I looked up, there were about 6 or 7 wide eyed people looking at them with me! Talk about wide eyes! Holy cow! So, they didn't say a thing, just got the hell outta my way and I haven't touched a 6 shooter since.

So, we're going to have to settle for 6 shots if you expect me to kick my leg up that high like a Rockette! I'm not allowed to nor do I have the desire to shoot guns anymore...lol

Now, if you liked that story, ask me how I almost burnt my house down last night! It was just a fluke that I found out and put the fire out on time or I might not be sitting here today...lol

I think you better keep me in the audience where I'll be safe...lol

DebbieMc

Angel honey, sorry to take over your post with the fireman ;)

Geez Harvey, Debbie sounds like a pretty dangerous gal, we better be on our toes! I was going to let her shoot my .44 magnum 6-gun in the show like Annie Oakley, but with her aiming point, I'm thinking twice about that one! You and I could end up singing soprano! Sounds like we need to keep her away from matches and open flames also. :D

...and besides, I would only aim there if I was shooting a 22! I don't think he said the revolver would piss them off...I think he said that one would drop 'em no matter where I aimed!

Hey Keith,

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has gotten in trouble for NOT hearing something that was NERVER told to me. lol Sorry girls, but I'm with Kieth on this one.... and I'm not afraid of the dog house! :)

We would love for your wife Debbie to handle all of our travel arrangements and tour with us.I'm not good at making plans for such a large group. If Debbie can put up with us, I'm sure we wont have a problem with her. Welcome aboard Debbie. I'm not telling Debbie this, but I seen it on a boat last weekend and it comes to mind...Get in.. sit down... shut-up... buckle up.... and hold on... I have a funny feeling our tour is going to be something like that... :D

It'd humid here as well, it was 92 with a heat index of 102. You can't breathe well because of the humidty and you break out in a sweat if you do anything at all.

What are you doing on a ladder? I know your not suppose to be doing that and besides, what if you fall off... who's going to take your place on tour?

I hate to hear your back on the pain meds but I hope they keep you from hurting too much. I took some when I came home from the hospital for about 3 days but over the counter pills have worked for me after that. I'm a big chicken... I'm scared to death I'll get "hooked ". My brother got addicted to pain meds and he had to check hisself into a hospital to get off them. I might hurt some, but I'm not planning on going down that road.

Ask Debbie, if she would, to start planning our Cervie People Tour as soon as she can. We have a large group of fans ( about 4) that can't wait to see us on the road. lol

Have a great night,

Harvey

DebbieMc,

OK, now that you've been through a fire arms class, when would you like to start my Fire Safty Class! Lord mean one,Don't you know it's not nice to set your house on fire? It's against the law plus it really.... really makes your husband mad!lol I've got to hear this story...it's just got to be good. When you feel like typing, fire away!

Please let me know if I ever make you mad. I'm with Keith, I don't want you shooting me.....( there ) !! I'm not keen on getting shoot anywhere but that's a spot I kinda cherish and protect as much as possible. :D I'll have a chat with Keith, I think we need to find something else for you. Something that doesn't involve guns or sharp objects! lol How are you on a unicycle? :) Don't worry, we'll find the perfect act for you.

I'm sssssoooooo sorry to hear your a natural blonde. I'll do a search in Aurora, CO and find you a hairdresser that can "fix" that problem for us. No wonder you almost shot your husband and burned the house down! If I knew where you lived I'd warn the neighbors and have 911 on stand-by 24/7! lol

I'm ordering the drinks so you'll be ready for the high kick. You can do it, we have faith in ya... :D

Have a wonderful night,
Harvey

DebbieMc
07-27-2003, 11:25 PM
Well alright...since I'm to the point of no return pain-wise tonight I'll tell you the story of how I almost burnt the house down. I didn't know it was illegal, I swear. Ignorance is no excuse huh?

OK, so on my discharge orders from the hospital, my doc said I'm supposed to have a "one-a-day." So, being the natural blonde that I am and trying to kick a 25 year habit of smoking, I figure that means I can have one smoke a day (which I may regret next week when I have my xrays done!) So, the new rule of the house is no smoking in the house. We have to go outside. So I went outside on the front porch to have my one-a-day around 7 or 8 last night. Since Colorado has been in a pretty severe drought for the past few years, we're not allowed to plant flowers without a permit, so I have all these flower pots sitting on the porch with nothing in them but dirt. Perfect ashtray...right? NOT!!! That dirt has little sticks and stuff in it too and it started smoldering. Well, this particular pot happened to be plastic (the only plastic pot on the whole porch of course!)

So anyways, hours go by and I'm oblivious to what's going on on my porch. My next door neighbor has been out of town and asked me to keep an eye on his house while he's gone. And from the extra bedroom where I currently reside, I have a perfect view of his front yard (We both live at the very end of the cul-de-sac) So, I see headlights last night around 10:30, and I dutifully go check to see who the heck is at his house that late when he's not home. I took two steps out onto the porch and I see this cloud of smoke and I'm like...hmmmmm....what's that?!!! I look at my now red hot and smoking pot and realized half of it had melted and these red hot pieces of plastic were dropping down onto my wooden porch and into other pots that had dried up sticks from last year in them and they were all burning embers! 3 pots were just smoking away on my wooden porch. So I did what any good firefighter would do and got my biggest mixing bowl and extinguished them. It only took about 7 trips. Then I put them out in the rain to finish the job. You may ask why I didn't just get the hose, well, it was raining (for a change) and I didn't want to get wet! But these pots were under the covered part of the porch where it was dry, very dry. So, whaddya think? Could I have caught my house on fire?

Good thing I was watching the neighbor's house for him or I would have never went out there last night!

The End.

P.S. You do know what they call a blonde that dyes her hair brown don't ya? Artificial intelligence!!! lol, I'm really a smart blonde, I just do blonde things sometimes. It's the nature of the hair color ;)

I volunteer to hold up the cue cards to tell everyone when to applaud during the show. We're going to need to be sure to invite all our neurosurgeons too so when we rip the hardware out of our necks from falling on our rear ends they'll be there to put us back together again...lol

firebug DebbieMc,

Yes, it's surely possible you could have set your porch on fire and that would have set your house on fire.... Not a good thing. I'm thinking your husband would be well advised to hire someone to watch you. :D lol.... I'm not sure how long you two have been married but I vote we give him a Distinguished Service Metal! Sure sounds like he deserves one....

Your gonna hate me tomorrow when you can't get rid of your pain. Just remember, it wasn't my fault because Keith started it. I'm not sure but I think your husband told Keith! I wouldn't even ask him, just walk in there and bonk him on the head... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/hammer.gif THEN you can ask him if that's what he said. See, you have to get his attention first! lol

I'm off to bed. Please post in the morning so I know you didn't burn the house down tonight! :)

Debbie and Harvey,

Yeah I know about the ladder thing, but at least it was just the 2nd floor I was painting. I wanted to get up to the attic dormers on the BIG ladder (40 footer), but did manage to have enough common sense not to attempt that one. I'll rent a lift for that job. Either that or I'll dye my hair blonde and then climb the ladder anyway...(hey, you left the door wide open on that one) :D

Fireman,

You know...I did what you said. I don't recall why I was supposed to go bonk the old man on the head but it sounded good to me. Then I blamed it on you....not Keith :p By the way, a "peach" is a fruit. Now I don't know about you, but my interpretation of that would be "a fruit, as in fruitcake." lol OK, boredom is really getting to me now, can you tell. I can handle 18 or 20 more days home alone...it's not affecting me a bit! Really!

Angelic, I know you meant "peach" in a nice way, but what the heck. I don't like missing opportunities when it comes to harassing our favorite man in uniform ;) Well, actually, he's out of uniform now but that's a whole nother story ;)

And uh Keith, honey, I don't think it was the actual act of climbing the ladder that hurt you, but more the neck and arm action of scraping and painting...lol And one more thing, if your wife said she said it (whatever it was,) I can assure you she said it! You're suffering from a very well known gender trait called selective memory/hearing. All men have it, we women just have to accept it. I don't think there's anything you can take for it. The only known way to deal with it is the ol' "yes Dear" routine. Don't try to fight it...you're gonna lose....lol Look at firefighter, he didn't heed this advice and now he has no wife. I mean, I know I wasn't around to advise him back then, but I thought men passed that wisdom down through the generations. Yes Dear. Words to live by :)

AngelicMoon,

I have been spreading the "warm fuzzies" for many years now.. :D
Control is something a woman has over a man, nothing that a man would possess! :) Well that's not totally true, if a woman SAID we could have control then it would be ok.

Keith,

I never said anything about you being on that ladder, that was allllll Debbie,I just love blaming her. ( but I agree with her) What would the troup do if you got hurt?? I haven't praticed the towel dance and besides, the girls say no one can do it like you!
Hire the paint work done, that would make the Cervie People happy! :)

Have a great day,

What are you doing blaming me for bonking your husband on the head.... Keith started it, I was only passing on what I "heard". :D Tell your poor dear husband he has my sympathy for the years of anguish he's had to endure being married to you. He's got to be a preacher to have that much faith in marriage!!! lol

Angelic,

I couldn't tell that any of us are bored...not by reading these posts...lol We all seem perfectly sane to me! Of course it's all relative ain't it? psssst, Firefighter is single too...he wears white socks though...hehehe

Firefighter, I bonked him on the head because you told me to! duh! And besides, I like bonking him...lol he deserves it and I didn't have anything else to do. Honestly, he's lucky to have a woman like me, and I don't know a luckier man alive :P We're going to give him his big start in showbiz right? He's the guy with toolbelt. Now I know women think men in toolbelts are hot, and so do I, but only his. And it's not what you think...lol. If he has that big ol toolbelt on around me, it means one thing...he's building me a porch I can burn down, or adding a room to the house or any number of other things he builds for me. Although I must admit, he has taken my admiration of his toolbelt the wrong way a time or two and totally embarrased himself...so he's going to be perfect for the Cervie People! I, with Keith's Debbie, don't mind a bit if anyone has a good laugh at my husband's expense. Lord knows he's had plenty of laughs on me! Besides, from the way his body aches all the time, he's probably a cervie and just doesn't know it yet.

P.S. Don't feel bad, fruitcakes are sweet. I wouldn't want a warm fuzzy one though...lol Warm maybe, but certainly not a fuzzy one!

AngelicMoon,

Sure you can control me. I follow directions to the tee, I am very polite and I'm potty trained! :D I'm the real deal.... lol

Did you ever hear from your NS? I sure hope you have better luck calling yours than I do, the best you'll get from mine is talking to is nurse that schedules your surgery and can get you meds. I called three times over 8 days and had to call the office manager to get a returned call from her. It's not like I called every day to ask how the weather was. I called 3 times in two months( before this last problem). Maybe there was a limit they didn't tell me about! lol

Hi Harvey,

I noticed how kind and caring you are and was wondering: Was it being a nice guy that made you become a firefighter or was it being a firefighter that caused you to become so caring?

I've only personally known one firefighter in my life, and he was so funny. I would laugh until the tears rolled. He was a good cook, too. He said that came with the territory.

Hello Memer,

Tell him to get plenty of rest before the test and don't worry about what the other guys or girls are doing. Just do his best and don't quit!! They should go by the fastest times. I'm assuming he's past the written test or he wouldn't be taking the physical agility test. They will combine to two scores then he'll have an interview with a few officers, that will score big. Tell him to just be hisself, if he's wanting to be a firefighter he's got to be a good kid to start with! :)

As far as cooking, I don't cook that well but boy, you should see me eat! lol I don't know why but MOST firefighters have a good sense of humor and they enjoy helping people.

Your boy will make a great door man. I'm 6'3" and 260 ( not all muscle anymore!) You'd be suprised how quick you can break a door open...lol Well, thank goodness they don't teach that way but it's still the quickest way! Some of the old dogs will tech the new pups ( that will be your boy) a few tricks. Tell him to always listen to what the old guys say... they've been there and he'll learn things from them that isn't taught at the academy and might one day save his live. I wish him well.

Debbie,

That selective memory thing is all part of the deception and control plot you ladies have worked out. You want us to sincerely believe that we don't listen and that you really did say something, but I'm finally wise to that one. It's worked well, hell I even started believing it myself! I'm sorry, did you say something? :D

If it's not too big of a problem, I think we will change Mary's name to Debbie, just seems right plus it's easy to remember! I wonder where she's at. Maybe she decided she give use a "rest day". lol DebbieMc..... can you please come out and play? :)

Hey Harvey,
So you were married once....I'm sorry that it didn't work out. Marriage is hard. But what my dh and I have discovered, and what most people don't do, is that you both have to continually work on it. It doesn't work if only one is trying. We do a lot together, with and without the kids. And I can honestly say that after 20 yrs of marriage  our sex life is better than it ever has been!! And BTW, I don't control everything per se, I treat him like a king and in return he treats me like a queen!

I have been doing really well. I'm really looking forward to my EMG in Aug. My neck pain doesn't seem as bad. Only my left arm pain bothers me the most. I did start working out again this week. I've found I can lift weights if I lower the weight. I was lifting 12-15-20 pounds (in each hand), where now I have to go down to 5 & 8 pounds for the upper body. My arms are a bit achy this morning because yesterday I stained my porch which took 1.5 hrs.

Well, I just made dh lunch, rubbed his feet, got him off to work, wrote you, and will now go lay back down for a little while. Have a great day!!

Hi Harvey,

That sounds like great advice, especially the part about listening to the older ones. Thank you so much, Harvey.

Memer, you sound like a very proud Mom. I wish your son the best of luck. Then you'll be like me...extremely proud but worried about him all the time. My son is in the Airforce, currently stationed in Korea. I thought Kuwait was bad (he went right after 911) but I'm not feeling great about Korea either. He said they were only about 9 miles from the border with no bunkers or anything so they are basically sitting ducks. They just got orders to move back about 20 or 40 miles. Anyways, I digress. Go ahead and brag about your son as much as you can/want. After all the years you spent raising him, you definitely have bragging rights.

My dearest Firefighter and Keith...my name is Mary! See? Why the heck would I tell you my name is Debbie when it's Mary?!!! Men! sheez! I finally just changed my screen name to Debbie since that's what you call me all the time anyways. Just call me Debbie McMary, at least that way you're half right...lol

You know, I get some of my husband's best work out of him when he's in the dog house...lol Let's see, he built me a deck with radiused corners and stairs (which he swears he will never do for anyone ever again) he tiled my entire kitchen for me (floor and counters) complete with the granite serving bar he didn't want, he put a second bathroom in the basement, amongst many other things....all to get out of the doghouse for not listening to me. And he actually has the audacity to think that I just make things up that I said to him to put him in the doghouse so he'll build things for me...can you believe that?!!!

I had to take a break for a day or so because I figured out the number one worst thing for a recovering ACDF'r to do. Grocery shopping. Pushing that cart around the store is absolutely killer and had me whimpering like a little baby in no time at all. So, I had to spend some quality time with the Captain last night. Captain Morgan that is ;) We used to have a standing date every Friday and Saturday night but since I've been on all these drugs, I've been ignoring him. So, me and the Captain had some catching up to do.

Debbie/Mary,

Speaking of doghouse, that reminds me of a buddy of mine a few years back. We were both single at the time and he was engaged, and we went over to Canada to see the ladies "perform on stage". I didn't know that he had told his fiance at the time that he wasn't going. A couple of years later, when he was married to her, we were all at a party, and somehow the conversation got on to about our hilarious trip to Canada and the events of that night. He turned pale white, she gave him a look that would kill a weaker man and I knew he was in it deep. That was Saturday night. Monday morning she was driving a brand new car. :D

Hi DebbieMc/Mary McDeb,

I'm a very happy girl right now. Thank you for the good wishes. Korea! I see why you worry. There's so much going on that it's very scary. Africa is a big one right now, too. They're all bad. Your son is so brave. We are fortunate to be Americans and have people like him protecting us.

awww, thanks guys. I appreciate that. The problem is that I think the military brainwashes these kids...lol. He actually wants to be where the action is. He was really upset that he got sent home from Kuwait before any of the action started. He's hoping to see some action in Korea. I think he's nuts! Actually, you're right. It's a special breed of brave people that want to protect their country and do so willingly and by choice. It's just hard for me to understand why they would want to put their lives in danger like that but they do, and we're all lucky there are people like him.

Keith...what exactly goes on in the Airforce that makes my child think this way? He's TACP...the guy with the lasar. He actually volunteered for that job...he wanted the excitement...sheez!!! He told me don't worry Mom, no one has ever been killed doing this job. Remember a few years ago? 6 guys (at once) got killed doing that job!!! That was right after he told me not to worry which I've been doing ever since <sigh>

P.S. Funny story about the new car. You guys just never learn do ya? lol

Debbie,

Actually I'm too old to know anything about the lasers, hell we used to flip a coin on when it was the right time to open the bomb bay doors and drop the bombs (JK).
My uncle was a fighter pilot for 3 tours in Viet Nam. I think if he talked to your son, he might feel differently about being eager to be involved in any war. He lost so many fellow pilots and friends there he couldn't begin to count them. I've been blessed to hear his heartfelt feelings about war when he entrusted me with his very personal discussions. Thank God there are men and women who risk their lives daily in peace time and during war to protect our freedoms and the freedoms of others, but the cost is higher in many ways than most realize. My dad was in the Korean War in the Army, and just last year at the age of 67 he finally, after a lot of prodding from my brother and I, opened up and shared with us what he really experienced. Let's all pray that everything gets resolved peacefully over there, enough blood has been shed on that peninsula for all of our lifetimes. I want nothing more dearly than to see your son and all the other soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines come home safely from wherever they are defending freedom.

Yeah, no kidding. I think that's what we all want...world peace! But, as long as there are wars to fight, it's a good thing we have men and women willing to put their lives on the line for our freedom and liberties. I would never "forget the men who fought and gave that right to me"...but I never thought it would be one of my own sons!

TACP is Tactical Air Command Patrol...or something like that. Pronounced "Tac P" like 2 words. He's the guy that points the lasar at the target so the fly boys can come along and take care of business. He's always stationed on an Army base because he works closely with the army. Boy, doesn't that boost his ego...lol Did you know Army food isn't good enough for airmen? He gets a food allowance just so he doesn't have to eat Army food...lol

OK...enough of this seriousness...he is going to be fine. He'll be out of Korea in a year and safely in Germany before anything happens. He's dodged the bullet this long, he'll be fine. Besides, the Airforce is the safest branch of the military to be in...right? My only worry is that he'll go volunteer for something!

OK...enough of that. Thanks for caring...how did this become about him anyways? ;)
