View Full Version : Now Scoliosis!?!

Oww!

Ok, so I am now in college and they have their own health clinic. I went their because I have been dealing with upper back pain for over a year and, even though I went to 2 other specialists, thought some extra insite wouldn't hurt because it didn't cost anything extra. I had previously been diagnosed with first a chronic muscle strain, then pinched nerve, and then myofascial pain by 2 very good specialist, one a nueromuscular physician and the other an orthopedic surgeon. They checked me over and even gave me an MRI of my shoulder which came back normal. Anyway, the doctor, who couldn't have been more than a general health doctor, checked my back over. He then had me bend down and touch my toes. After that he told me my pain was due to scoliosis. I don't get it. No doctor ever mentioned any curve in my spine and I am almost 21. My friends couldn't find it either. I do, however, have one side of my ribs sticking out a bit farther than the other. My shoulders are a little uneven too but I thought it was because of the muscle injury. Should I believe that my problem is caused by scoliosis? I thought most cases, even servere ones, don't directly cause pain. From what I heard, most people have minor scoliotic curves in their back anyway. Should I get a second opinion or maybe an X-ray of my spine? Would it be expensive? I would like to know if I have a progressive problem or not because it will affect my future as well as my career options. Thanks for any insite.
