I'm 8 weeks post op.. I had x-rays last week but my ns said it hasn't started to fuse yet. Does anyone know what happens if you don't fuse? I should have ask him but I didn't. Thanks

ACDF June 30 ,2003 c5/6 c6/7 w/hardware and donor bone.

My OS said it could take up to a year before it is fully fused. He took x-rays at 2 mos. and I'm scheduled to get them again at 6 mos. to make sure that the plate and screws are in place and that the fusion is progressing. I'm not sure if they have you to come back in a year or not, or if you just assume that it has fused by then. Hope this helps.

By the way, if it doesn't fuse, I believe they have to do the surgery over again (in some form).
