I have been on 20 mgs of Celexa for about 6months for depression and anxiety. I recently ran out of prescriptions and instead of calling my doctor I wanted to see how I would do without it. At first I felt better without it. I guess more normal but lately I have felt kind of light headed and jumpy. My sleep has been a little interupted also. I have been off of it for about 4 days. My Therapist is off for another 2 weeks. So I was just curious what you guys think I should do. Thanks alot

it is up to your body and mind not for you and anyone else to say.... i was on celexa for 2 mnths and i had to stop it cold turkey.. i experienced jumpy feeling, dizzy sweating all sorts for 3 weeks... but i suffered from all that since i stopped effexor 2 yrs prior.... no matter what you do now if you stary as you are or if u take it again you will feel the side effects.. try and take anymore for another 2 weeks... BUT be warned if you are in need of starting it up again then it may either make your worse.. as you are confusing your brain or it may not work at all for you.. good luck let us know..

Mike76,
My opinion is : Call your doc's office and get your prescription renewed, it takes a while for that stuff to get out of your system (half-life elimination etc.)
I know personally I do ok for a bit off celexa - but I'm also taking it for anger too, the seretonin levels out when you take it - if you have a low, its bad and without your doc knowing your off of it - you can be held "liable" because you have a verbal contract with him that you won't do this. (it sounds silly but its true).
Lots of luck to you - understand where you are, been there a lot of times hugs.

So far so good. I actually feel better than I did on the celexa. The only thing I have noticed is that I have waken up a bit in my sleep. Otherwise I feel great!!!

Well that's great that you are feeling good now but why do you want to go off it?
Without Celexia I can't drive because I have anxiety attacks on the road. On it I don't.

I needed it to get out of a rut. Now I feel that I don't need it anymore and can do things the natural way. I didn't want to spend my whole life on it.
If you find that it helps you than stay on it until you feel its time to quit.

I think it's great that you were able to get off meds.
I hope to someday be there myself.
Congrats to you !
But don't be afraid to go back to meds in the future if you feel you need it.
