My last post about 3 weeks ago i had sent in was about my "fine" trembling i was feeling as i was going to sleep and started feeling some slight trembling on and off thru the day. Now it seems to be constant !! Cant stand it and its driving me nuts. I have prescribed Valium and Serax benzo's that i havent taken in many months. I am reluctant to take anyone of them. What the heck is wrong with me? With all the years i've suffered through this this symptom just seems to bother me more than anything. I mean i could have a full blown panic attack and handle that better since i know it will be gone. But this trembling ? Its not visible from the outside but internally i'm shaking from top to bottom !! Please help !!!

AndrewS,
I have the same thing. I have had anxiety for over 20 years, the trembling/twitching started about 6 months ago, and has gotten much better after Zoloft and xanax, but has yet to fully go away. I do find the less I think about it, the less I feel it. I have had almost a full week where it hasn't bothered me at all. I know how hard it can be NOT to think about it, when the trembling is a constant reminder. But if you can, try to dismiss the trembling as nothing that will harm you, and put it in the back of your mind immediatly. Then go on with whatever you were doing. If you have been to a doctor, and they have ruled out all the bad stuff, then believe them! Your mind is a powerful thing, and can bring you some very undersirable physical symptoms. Also, read Dr. Claire Weekes book "hope and help for your nerves" It will help you to understand and deal with your symptoms, and ultimately heal them!
Best wishes!
Kim

Well I know what you mean - it feels like my whole body is "buzzing" inside. Could you describe it as "buzzing" or would you say it's more of a tremble? Like I could hold out my hands and they don't shake or anything. I don't have it constantly, but my mom does! She describes it as a buzzing also and she notices it the most at night when trying to sleep.

AndrewS,
Although the book doesn't describe each and every symptom anxiety can cause (like our "buzzing") It does explain why strange things happen to us during our bouts with anxiety, and how to re-program ourselfs to minimize or get rid of our symptoms. Take heart, I have had a full week of NO Twitching, buzzing or trembling! I think I'm definitely on my way.......
It may take a few months to get your self back to feeling normal again, so be patient and continue to work towards that goal.!
Kim
p.s.
I'm not familiar with serax. What is it, and how is it prescribed?

Hey all,
Finally, someone else who knows about the "buzzing" I used to get that constantly during the night. I would be woken up by a full body buzz about an hour after falling asleep. I would hold my hands out to see if they were shaking and they were not. After a 3 month stint on Paxil it stopped. 1 1/2 years later I occasionally get the buzz, but nothing like before. I always wondered if it was a neurological thing or panic. You've all confirmed it for me. Thanks and take care.
Dunk.

I too get the "buzzing" feeling. Although I describe mine as a jittery on the inside feeling. You can't tell by looking at me because it's all on the inside.
I describe it sometimes as the same kind of feeling I get when I haven't eaten anything for a long time, I get shakey but on the inside. It's frustrating, but I think it's pretty typical with anxiety. Excercising for 10 minutes has helped me get rid of it. It's like I have too much adrenaline and the excercising gets rid of it.
I don't like it either but I've accepted it as anxiety and just have to live with it and find ways to deal with it.

Kim,
Serax is a benzo that is powerfull but comes on gradually and last for about 4 hours. It is considered the safest of all the benzo's. I dont usually ever take it. My "buzzing" or trembling is on and off now. PS..i bought the book...awsome..thx

I just found this site and registered. I've had the exact same trembling going on now for about two weeks and am curious to see how you are doing and if you found any treatment. For me, the trembling is the worse at night in bed, starts in the back of my head and then down my body. During the day, it is either very mild or nonexistent. I've had generalized anxiety for about 4 months and although I had very slight trembling before, never to this extent at night just before I fall asleep and that wakes me at night. Interestingly, I really haven't had anxiety for the past month or so, just this bothersome trembling. I've read the book by Ms. Weeks which is great and highly recommended for anxiety, but not this unbearable trembling at night. Just curious, what have you done to help it, has it helped and how you are coping since your last e-mail. Just knowing that I am not alone on this problem has already helped. Thank you. P.S. Anyone else who has gone through this and has advice, I would sincerely welcome a response.
