Does anyone else have this problem? My anxiety has zoned in on my driving. I have had some severe panic attacks while driving on the expressway and now just the thought of driving on the expressway can send me into an attack. Any suggestion on meds or other therapy to get over this. It's making me homebound!

Thanks!

Oh gosh, I thought I was the only one!!!
I'm the same way. i get on the interstate & my heart starts pounding, I can't breathe & can't wait till the next exit to get off of it!
No meds. have ever helped me with it. I end up taking the side roads all the time.

My mom (42) has never driven on the highway as long as I can remember! So you're not alone.

I too thought I was alone on this one http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif I can't do highways, bridges or tunnels. I used to drive fine (a long time ago) without a problem. I lived in Montreal (very busy and crazy driving!) When my attacks started while driving I had completely given up on driving. I had to slowly get back into it. I now live in what's like a suburb (I've been here 8 years), I always take side roads when possible, I hate intersections and RED lights. I always have to be driven in to the city (montreal) by either my hubby or mother! It feels so debilitating (sp?). I can hardly stand even being a passenger in all that crazy city driving now! It's nice to know we're not alone on this one. Nobody I know (except my mother who has overcome it with time) has this problem so I often feel like a chick s***! The whole panic disorder makes me feel inferior http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif
