I just started Paxil, 10 mg, three days ago. I'm taking it for Anxiety mostly and some depression. Has anyone taken it and what are some side affects you've had. I think it has made me sleepy the past two days. Also, how long does it take to work? I appreciate any help thanks!

I slept ALL the time when I was on Paxil - at least whenever I could. I felt happier in the first week or so of taking it - I think I also took that same dose. It prevented me from thinking too negatively about my life and allowed me to make some positive decisions for my life.

I did gain weight and it killed my sex drive and ability to have an orgasm.

Getting off of it was really tough. It zapped me and made my energy levels go way up and way down. Take at least a month to SLOWLY taper off your dosage when you do decide to stop taking it.

I have been on Paxil CR 37.5 mg for a few months now. My most noticeable side effects were tiredness, sleepiness and actual apathy (somnulencec). Sex drive was already pretty low (2 and 4 yr old girls make mama tired :-)I take it for anxiety mostly but also have problems with depression. I actually felt more depressed after starting Paxil and had to start Wellbutrin. My MD suggested taking the Paxil at bedtime and it helped with the daytime sleepiness. I am on a pretty even level now except I went a week without taking it and I feel AWFUL. Good luck.
