Autumn,
Just wanted to thank you for all the words of encouragement that you have given me and everyone else on the boards.
Sounds like you have had a lot of things in your life as well. I would like to ask some questions.
I have been on the Lexapro for about 1.5 months (may not be that long) and I know that the chest pain is just a symptom of anxious and panicky people, but now I am dizzy all the time and this is the strangest thing, I can't eat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Truely I can't stand the sight of food and have to make myself eat something so that I don't pass out!!!! Since January I have lost 18 pounds, and keeping loosing. I don't know what it is. I have expressed this to my doctor severeal times, but doesnt' seem to think anything of it. I guess I should drink a supplement that contains vitamins. Oh one more thing, the only thing that I want to drink is MILK??????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go figure.
Anyone have any insight?

Sara

Sara...You are having side effects from your medication depending how serious the dizziness is and the lack of appetie you might want to call your Doc just to be sure. I will type up all the info I found for you.

Lexapro is a medicine for depression ans other related problems. Lexapro is a potent SELECTIVE SEROTONIN REUPTAKE INHIBITOR (SSRI). Lexapro (ESCITALOPRAM) is the active ISOMER of the antidepressant drug Celexa (CITALOPRAM).
It can take up to 4 weeks to feel the full effect.
You may get drowsy or DIZZY do not stand or sit up quickly. AVOID ALCOHOL.
SIDE EFFECTS TO REPORT TO YOUR DOCTOR ASAP ARE: Confusion, DIZZINESS or LIGHTHEADEDNESS, skin rash, itching (hives) fast talking and excited feelings or actions that are out of control, suicidal thoughts, vomiting. OTHER SIDE EFFECTS: The following adverse reactions have been reported: agitation, or restlessness, blurred vision, diarrhea, difficulty sleeping, drowsiness, dry mouth, fever, frequent urination, headache, INDIGESTION, nausea, INCREASED OR DECREASED APPETITE, increased sweating, sexual difficulties (decreased sexual ability or desire ejaculatory delay) taste alterations, tremor (shaking) and weight changes.
Adults...initial dose of Lexapro is 10mg once daily.

I noticed as you will the questions you were asking about are answered in this info they are both side effects but only you can decide if they are serious or bothersome enough for you to call your Doctor. Once again thank you for the post I like to help others where I can even if it is just listening to a relationship problem...we all need friends and someone to offer advice and I try to be that to others. You take care of yourself and keep me posted on that you find out if you call your Doctor. Chat again soon.
