I was just wondering if anyone out there is taking Celexa. My doc wants me to at least try it, but I really don't want to have to depend on any medication. If you are taking it, is it working, are their any side effects, what were your symptoms before? Thank you

I took Celexa for a few months before switching to Lexapro. It really did wonders for my anxiety and depression. The only side effect I experienced was nausea for the first couple days. (Remedied by splitting pills in half for a week.) Good luck!

My Daughter is on Celexa 20mg once a day. She has gained quite a bit of weight 30lbs but we arent sure if it is the celexa or the depo shot. Since they can both have that side effect. We are taking her off the depo and putting her on the patch after this cycle. She says it helps her a bit but its the therapy she needs and her therapist seems to like to write the scripts and not talk too much. I might get her into a support group. Try it out and if it doesnt help you it takes about 3 weeks i hear before you feel anything so give it a chance. And like the other poster said break it in half there is a "notch" in the pill for easy breaking. Best of luck to you.
Autumn.

I've been taking Celexa for a while. I didn't want to depend on a pill either but honestly, it's a lot better than wanting to be dead all the time. I figure when things in my life improve I won't need it anymore, but for now I need meds. The side-effects I noticed intially were a drop in sex drive and trouble sleeping which I took care of by taking them in the morning instead of nightly. I don't have any side-effects anymore and they still do their job after all these months.

I would recommend getting lexapro. It is from the same company and is the "good" half of the celexxa molecule. The bad half was just attributed to side affects.
