I have an unfilled prescription for Paxil CR 12.5 mgs.
as well as one week of samples from my Primary care doc. Before I begin treatment, I am searching for an answer...

I suffer from social phobia and depression.
In reading about Paxil CR, it seems its mainly for depression and panic disorders, as opposed to Paxil which is for the whole depression/anxiety/Compulsive obsessive/Social anxiety etc...

I dont know if my dr. misunderstood me thinking Paxil CR would help me. Does anyone Take CR for Social anxiety?

Paxil and Paxil CR are basically the same thing. The "CR" stands for Controled Release (your body absorbs the paxil over a period of time versus all at once that occurs with the non CR version.) To learn more do a search using Google or some other search engine, using keywords "paxil cr".

For me personally i hate paxil cr. I was on it for 7 months and finally said forget it. It made the depression worse for me. I never wanted to leave my apartment, i am in college so going to class was hell. I got headaches that felt like my head was goign to explode. I gained weight from it (since i was to depressed to go anywhere) then because i gained weight i was embarrassed for people to see me, however i am not even close to being overweight. I just decided one day i couldnt live with this and the meds were not working (well for me at least). I started exercising and you wouldnt believe what it has done. It works wonders!
I guess it reacts differntly with everyone, but i only have horror stories from it..

Has anyone taken the CR version for soical anxiety?
On the paxil website, it states that the CR is prescribed for depression and generalized anxiety.
