Hi, Im new to this site and have read lots of topics thought maybe someone out there could give me some advice. I've been taking 1mg of klonopin a day for about 2 years. I've been on every antidepressant I can name but they all made my anxiety worse. I started on zanax almost 4 yeras ago after my mom died got to the point of rock bottom went to a psychiatrist and through therapy. Was put on klonopin instead three 1 mgs a day seemed to work but not totally still had a hard time in crowds. Now as of last week I'm still taking 1mg of klonopin and started noritriptyline 10mgs at bed time they seem to be working okay first couple days sucked my goal is to get off meds completely. I can have good days and bad cant figure out the trigger points. was drinking to calm down for awhile but that only caused problems all around don't drink now but I'm still shaky and nervous. I did go through a anxiety workshop thats how I weaned down to 1 klonopin
just wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions for me http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks

Alright, I see where your at. If I could of, I would have just stopped you from touching any kind of drugs or pills in the first place. They don't cause anything but trouble. So it is GREAT that you are ready to cut off the meds.
Heres a little post I made recently about pills:
"Personally, pills are a bunch of S***. It's better to stick with more natural solutions. All pills can do is temporarily calm your symptoms and/or (just) cause a bunch of side-effects, and if you don't experience one or both of the two, then you will surely become dependent on them due to the chemicals they have, AND the realization that they are the only thing that calms you down. And, for some, it they just make the anxiety worse alltogether!"
Now, I suggest Cognitive Behavioral Theropy as a main source so you can RELIEVE YOURSELF without any help from our little buddies we call drugs.
If you can, try to stay off of caffeines, or anything that will get you up and going and wanting something else, which WILL make you anxious.
After a while of Therapy, then you might be able to try some diaphramic breathing excercises REGULARLY and try some form of meditation, possibly. Yes, anxiety is scary, but all it REALLY is is just an inconvenience which can be completely under your control. It just takes some dealing with. Eventually, you'll be able to stop attacks from happening if you feel them coming. Then the next step is to kick anxiety out of your life. Just take it a step at a time.
I hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestions, I don't drink any caffine and have tried behavioral therapy. I am alot better today then i was a year ago. I can't even fuction without a klonopin in the moring but today I only took one-half of a pill so I'm on my way to try to wean off. As far as the noritriptyline I've only been on them 4 days and I go back to my doc in 2 weeks, to see if there is any improvement. WISH ME LUCK

did you learn much from the anxiety workshop?do it again perhaps...
books on recovery from anxiety and panic attacks have the same CBT info
trigger points dont really matter
a combination of CBT and klonapin helps many to get better.
I just browsed in....but certainly know about anxiety and depression, and how meds can affect you. I have been on medication for 7 years and just now getting off of them, but I am feeling the withdrawals. I hate it but I know it will get better. Believe in yourself!! Appreciate the small things that make you smile.... http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
