HI
I am 24 and I used to have severe panic attacks when I was 18 or 19. My hands and feet would go numb, i felt disconnected, shortness of breathe( basically it felt like i was on acid or really stoned, but trust me it is a horrible thing)I was put on Xanax at .05mg and after a year, I was almost attack freee, and at the time was almost totally agrophobic. i was panic free for the most part, for the past 2 or 3 years9 getting little panick attacks here and there) but i could controlthem without any drugs and was almost completely cured. Then last Sat. out of the blue I had a severe attack and have not felt normal since. I went to a Dr. and got on Xanax again .05mg (as need basis)
But i am open to any help thanks

Everyone has a few panic attacks in their life. All depends on if you ignore it or get some meds. I have been on round the clock xanax for years. Stick to the as needed (0.5mg) low dosage and only use it when you absolutely need it. If you can break them into 0.25mg an it works well enough, do it. You have only lost control of it if you start relying on the xanax instead of mentally beating it down. If you have attack symptoms try to go with them and write them off as just something that happens now and then. The fear is your problem, the symptoms come afterwards. If I knew what I know now years ago, I think that I would be on an as need basis if not on drug free. If your condition was such that you need constant medication then so be it, but try not to depend on the drugs just becuase you are carrying them. Good luck Friend

xanax as needed is helpful, also carry a few tablets with you when out for any panics, disolving 1 under the tongue is fastest,
however you need to study books on recovery from panic attacks and agoraphobia, as they have much useful advice
dont just rely on the xanax, otherwise you will never recover and will need the xanax for the rest of your life.
