I will be under a lot of stress the next 4 weeks or so. I would like to take something (in addition to diet and exercise) to help me relax. I don't want to take xanax because it can be addictive. Are there any meds that I could take to help?

I would only be able to answer "yes" if we're talking about alternative medicine.

Get rid of the stress in your life. I don't care if it means changing jobs, taking a vacation, filing backruptcy, whatever. You can't turn it on and off with a supplement, it will catch up with you. I alwalys had to be on top, the one that could handle all of the stress, laughed at others to myself that couldn't, bring it on. Made very good money. Did me a lot of good since I am totally disabled now and live on what the government considers a livable income, (maybe 30 years ago). I don't know your cumcumstances for stress and I may be making a bigger deal about this then it is, yet maybe I am not. It starts with stress, then anxiety and depression, then panic attack and then is when you say to yourself, "Was this all worth it?". Not trying to be mean, just concerned Friend

go to your local pharmacy and purchase a bottle of KavaKava and try it out.

For now anyway, I would avoid Kava. There have been reported cases of liver damage with some Kava users. Whether or not the Kava was directly responsible is the big question. It appears that other factors included prescription medication, alcohol, high dosages, or unknown liver problems. Until more is known, it's better to be safe than sorry.
