Hi,

This is my 1st time posting here, so I hope this doesnt sound silly in comparison with what some of you are going through. Back in Feb I had my dh's 2 kids with us for 2 weeks, and noticed after the 5 day my eyelid started twitching sporadically. After the kids left it quit. A week ago my left thumb has started twitching kind of like a muscle under your skin jumps...well its like that.

I did an online search and found out that eyelid, thumb and calf muscle twitches are "normal" (if no other problems causing it) and its most often caused by stress, anxiety, diet and exercising.

My question is how many of you had experienced this and when does it go away? Should I see a dr? I'm not stressed right now (not on a conscious level anyways).

Thanks so much

Angelfire,

I posted a very similar question yesterday (see my thread "Muscle Twitching and Generalized Anxiety Disorder" just a few posts down).

I started experiencing muscle fasciculations all over my body soon after my grandmother had been diagnosed with brain cancer (about 1 month ago).
My muscle twitches are most prominent in my right foot and right arm, but they also occur in other parts of my body (sometimes they are very violent and disturbing, but painless nonetheless).

There is this so-called "Benign Fascicualtions Syndrome" where your muscles twitch, but do not cause any serious disease. I don't know whether it is related to anxiety problems, but it seems that anxiety can trigger it.

Let me know if you find anything out...

Hi Ontarin,

Thanks for your post!
You twitching sounds far worse than mine does - sorry you are having such a hard time!

Have you been to see the doc? Mine was relatively good this weekend - thank goodness.

I did do a search online, but havent turned up a great deal!!

Hope you are feeling better and this passes real soon!!

Hang in there http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

wow, I've had exactly the same experiences with my eyelid and thumb!

I've had a twitchy eye for a few weeks now and it's pretty annoying! Actually it was an omen to me having a bit of a period of raised anxiety http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/frown.gif

Hope your well anyway...
