I have been on 20mg of Lexapro for 2+ months now. This is the first time ive ever been on antidepressents. He recently introduced Wellbutrin to the mix b/c i was complaining about lack of sex drive and being TIRED all the time & I wanted to try ZYBAN to quit smoking. He told me, i would be on this treatment program (the lexapro) for ONE YEAR ONLY. that that was the amount of time the drug needs to do its job in your body...and beyond that, if you are not 'cured' so to speak, than its time to look at alternate methods.

My question for everyone is...if normal treatment is supposed to only be for one year...why then have so many of you been taking these meds FOR YEARS AND YEARS???

Strangly, i hardly notice a DIFFERENCE in my attitudes..my day to day...had slight side effects the first week..and aside from that...feel pretty NORMAL....like there are no drugs in me. So I am very confident that 'weaning' off should be no problem at the end of this term.

Just confused.

wellbutrin and zyban are the same

1 year is about the right time to take an antidepressant for anxiety, during this time you need to learn CBT
some prefer to continue with antidepressants as insurance against the anxiety and panic attacks returning
