I am 47 y/o male with a stroke on the right side of my body. This occured 1 year ago, and since I developed what the neurologists term as "complex seizures". This has hindered my therapy and attempts to achieve full or near full recovery. I had a large area of the brain affected, and it was deep inside the brain. I am disabled, possibly temporarily, my PT, OT, and speech has ended and I have home programs I'm following. Does any one out there know of this situation and the possibility of recovery? You may email me if you wish.

After my stroke, I had seizures. My parents thought it was because I had seizures when I was a baby.

Thanks for your message Pooky.... I never had any seizures prior to my stroke, and they are still trying to get a handle on them. They are not typical seizures, in fact they are not sure they are seizures at all.

I had my first seizure 9 months after my stroke - It really scared me.
My neurologist said it is quite common with stroke patients and didn't seemed to be to worried about it. He did, however put me on medication for it called Carbemazapine? We are still trying to find the proper dosage, as I have had one more seizure after starting to take the meds. There is quite a bit of info n seizures I have found in the various stroke books that I have. No matter what though it is disturbing and scary! - Especially after going for so long with no signs of this! It feel like a set-back, but he assured me that it was not.
Best of luck with your suituation.
