Hi everyone.
This past Monday Morning, I woke up with the left side of my body tingling and semi numb. Kinda like I slept on my arm. I went to the doctor and they told me to go to the emergency room. I promptly did so. The doctor at the emergency room did not think I had a stroke as I past most all of the neurological testing he did with me. He did not seem too concerned. They hooked me up to an EKG machine. It indicated my Arrythmia which I was diagnosed with a couple of years ago.
my cardiogist said that it was a normal arrythmia and I had nothing to worry about(in fact, the doctor in the emergency room also indicated that it was not a problem. So here I am with this condition. Sunday night I was moving some heavy stuff around and I thought I may have pinched a major nerve. I have read and I knew someone who had similar symptoms of a stroke(including trouble speaking), but they found out it was a vitamin B12 deficiency.
I do not notice any problems mentally except I am very tired now from worry. My forgetfullness is worse.. but that cound be from the stress of my concern. I have no trouble speaking or thinking except that I am tired.
I have trouble typing now because of the disconnectedness I feel from the left side of my body. I will be going back to the doctor tomorrow. I am requesting a complete physical too... I am 27 years old.
thanks

When you go to your physical, you may want to ask if you can have a CT Scan done. They should be able to tell if you've had a stroke, by this scan. I hope you didn't!

jhissong,
Persue the problem...I had the same feeling in my left hand, but thought it was due to alot of keyboard time. I went to a gp, who diagnosed carpel tunnel. The next day, I was in ER. They did a CTScan, which showed no stroke, but upon transfer to a larger Hospital, MRI showed damage from a stroke that was approximately two weeks old.MRA showed extensive blockage in both arteries, as did Doppler Ultrasound. Keep on this, dont think it is your imagination.

jhissong,I had my stroke in January this year.I woke up with just my right leg feeling goofy.Went on about my day and began having tingling and numbness all over my right side except for my face.Went to the emergency room in the middle of the night and they did a catscan that showed nothing and sent me home.My family doctor thought I,d probably had a stroke and waited for about ten days to do an mri because he said it takes a week to ten days for the stroke to show up on the mri. Even though my whole side was shot I kept thinking it was a disc in my neck hitting a nerve but the doctor was right. I just didn,t think stroke myself because I,m so young.Let us know what you find out.Take care.Pat
