What does dystonic mean? I guess I never had it because I've never heard that word before, or know what it means.

Distonia refers to a reaction similar to seizures, but on one side of the body only. It mimics Parkinson's disease somewhat. It is easily confused with a complex seizure. It involves involuntary muscles twitches, increase tone but without the jerky like movements of Parkinsons. I am looking for any info I can get on it. I will see a doctor next week, and will have a 24 hour EEG monitor to try to nail down the diagnosis exactly. I will have more info then.

My parents said that I had seizures after my stroke. I think this is why I was on Tegretal, or whatever the seizure medicine was called (I was taking 9 different pills each day, so I don't know/remember what that medicine was called).

I have been recently diagnosed with Autonomic Movement Disease, and all attempts to control the disease with medications so far have failed. Has anyone out there had this diagnosis?
