It is the instead menstrual cup and there have been other posts from women who have used them. Some like them very well because you can have sex while using one without the usual mess. Check some of the other posts to read more about them from those that have used them.

Okay, I have a question. Is this bad? When I am on my period and it is really heavy, I wear a tampon and just push it higher up. I don't have a problem getting it out after. When it's light I just go for it and it makes for good lubrication.

You should never push a tampon higher up and you don't want to have sex with a tampon in. If you period is that heavy and you still want to have sex then switch to the instead cups during that time. Why risk a nasty infection or injury by trying to have sex with a tampon in.

Tried it, wasn't able to use it. It was just too cumbersome to get in and out. The last thing I wanted to be doing during that week of the month is fiddling with my girly bits. If you've ever used a diaphragm, it's sort of the same.

I've been using the Instead cup for over a year now and I love it. Like you, a friend of mine gave me one to try and I was hesitant, but I gave it a go and I've never looked back. They're amazing and once it's in, you don't feel a thing. Really! And if you do, it's not in correctly, or far enough. The only bother is that since you have to use your fingers to put it in and take it out, you're most likely to get blood on them. It's best to use a bathroom with a sink right beside the toilet.
Another benefit is that, unlike tampons, you can go to the bathroom (1+2) as if you weren't wearing anything. (Or at least I could never do either with a tampon in.)
As for having sex with one in, I'd never thought of that. I can't imagin the guy liking it, because it has a very wide, stiff rim and surely his penis would come into contact with it. It's not like a diaphram in that way.
Anyway, a bunch of my friends are using them now, and we're all quite pleased.
