Pinky knuckle still hurts after cast taken off

I broke my pinky knuckle about a month ago after hitting an unmovable object. I just got my cast off yesterday and since then my pinky hurts when I move it. My knuckle is gone too. I got x-rays and the doc said I was healed, but I'm not sure. Is it only a matter of time until I'm able to move it w/o pain because of how long it was in the cast or do I need to go back to the doc? Thanks.
