| | Wrist/Arm Injury
My 14 year old is an active competitive swimmer. Today during a swim meet she hit the wall with the back of her hand instead of her palm causing her hand to bend toward the inside of her arm excessively. She continued to swim but was in increasing amounts of pain. We have been icing and elevating as well as wrapping it up (which she says feels the best). There is no obvious deformity and minimal swelling. No bruising. She is in little pain when she is not using it but is unable to support the weight of a small plate in her hand without pain radiating up her arm. She is able to move her fingers and bend her wrist with minimal pain. I'm not sure if we should wait and see for a few days or take her to the E.R. and have it x-rayed soon. Any advice would be welcome!!! Thank you!!!
